I have my paternal grandmother's 1970s era Sears machine. It works. I don't care for it, but I can't get rid of my grandmother's machine. It lives in the basement.
Her treadle, the one she supported the family with during the Depression, is in the possession of my cousin. I'd love that machine, but it's been passed down the female line, so it's not mine.
Instead, I bought a beautiful old treadle at a garage sale. I don't know if it works. It surely needs new belts. That's so lovely it lives in my bedroom where it is admired every day in the form of getting books and clothes thrown on it.
The machine I use is the Pfaff 6122. Her name is Sister. She lives in the sewing studio and makes quilts with me.

I have two -- an Elna 6003 (Quilter's Dream) that is my primary machine and a Singer 401 that I bought at a garage sale. The Singer is my backup machine and once in a while I get it out for machine quilting because it has slightly more room under the arm than the Elna does. I also have an Elna serger that I use for garment sewing, though I don't do much of that any more. I'd really like to have an Elna Lotus for classes and retreats.

I mainly sew on my newest Viking (Designer I). My backup is my Viking #1. I use my featherweight for retreats and such. I have two treadles that are in the entryway just for looks, and I just got a Juki to use with my new Little Gracie frame. I haven't got to try that all out yet.

a 2030 that was my first machine... a real workhorse. I did all my first quilts on it. Mostly piecing tho -- send out for quilting all bigger quilts.
a 7570 (embroidery machine) that I am currently using for piecing -- just to familiar myself with the machine generally -- with a goal this year of feeling confident in using it to embroider.
How many sewing machines do I have? Hmmmm...let me count the ways...er machines:

Butterfly ( sometimes do miss the Viking 990)
Love sewing machines, but don't have all that I would "like" to have But do have enough to keep going.....
Yep, I love my machines and still miss my Viking 6460 that went "walkabout" after I loaned it to a "friend". :(

Pfebe is the name of my Pfaff. Forgot to add that

I hope you'll tell us what you don't like about this machine. Is it hard to use? Does it break? Is it something about the embroidery or the computer capability? I have a prejudice against sewing machines with software, but I always figured that was my problem and that if I could get over it (not that I'm trying), I'd like a fancy Pfaff.

Well, I have around 27 sewing machine. They are all usable but I use
3 or 4 regularly. A lot of them are just "collectors machines", I have them just because they are cool to look at. I would own more machines but I don't run across as many good ones as I use to. Several are featherweights, vintage Singers, a few Adlers, Pfaffs and Berninas. They are all wonderful and I sure am glad they have not ended up in the dump or tied to a Christmas tree and thrown in the pond. LOLPiece,

I have 2 berninas for sewing, one of which I use all the time. The other is a back up, even though it is computerized and cost far more than the one I use all the time. Actually, it is used for sewing clothes, and I don't do that as much these days. I have another machine also, a Janome long arm, set into a table for expanded surface, but it is used exclusively for stitching of large quilts. One serger, but again used only for sewing clothes, and not that often these days. That's it, no more on the horizon either.

Pfaff 7550, Bernina 930, Brother 1500, 2 FWs...and a singer 301 and dd has my Singer 404, and a Pfaff serger . I'd love a new machine but...the Pfaff and Bernina sew beautifully...I do use my Brother 1500 for MQing --but really don't do a lot of that....the FWs just sit in their cases.. I had to have them but never use them ! Then I bought the 301 as I thought it would be great for classes but I think I'm going to get it set up for gds. The serger hasn't been used in ages...when I bought it I was sewing clothing but shortly after buying it I mostly stopped that. I decided that one thing I really hate doing is cutting out clothing patterns and you can buy clothing so much more cheaply and quickly !! Mary
My grandmother's Singer 401A, a Bernina 1130 and a Bernina 180 with the embroidery module. I also have a Bernina 335 serger.

- my Mom's 1969 Elna (the machine I learned to sew on), that now belongs to my DD. This sucker weighs a ton and she has to use a wheeled case to get it to retreat!
- my Brother PS1250 (the first new machine I ever bought), I got this
10+ years ago and I've never had a problem with it - I did burn out the foot pedal, but that was an easy fix. Guess I'd better slow down on the curves! ;-)Laurie
I have 5, Plus an Elna serger that doesn't get used much anymore. Babylock Ellageo that is almost always set up for embroidery and used very often; Babylock Quest that I just bought and am deciding if I want to keep or not; Viking Designer 1 that I was planning to sell, but now not so sure; New Home Memory Craft 6000, rarely used, but I still haven't found a better satin stitch on any machine to equal that one; and a new Singer Featherweight 2 (not the original featherweight) to take if I'm traveling and want to sew a few things-it's very light. Gen
Gen- With all the hoopla about the Quest I am curious why you said you are deciding whether to keep it or not. Care to share with others who might be considering buying one?
