How to make quilt with scraps and no pattern?

That looks much too organized.

I've seen outer pieced borders done with really small pieces of the same fabrics used in the quilts and I have also seen them made from long pieces of another fabric -- something you would purchase for this purpose. The long pieces were usually a solid or tone on tone or a very small print that "read" as almost a solid. It just depends on whether you need to increase the size of the quilt or want to sort of frame it with the border. I must have missed some of the thread because I never read what type of "un"pattern you decided to use. Could you please let us know? Thanks & CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Thanks for the clarification; I won't be needing to add length/width to the quilt, but, aesthetically, this border might make for a nice effect. It's something to go "hmmm" about. ;)

A strip of fabric placed between rows or between blocks to separate them from the others. They can be pieced or whole cloth strips. They can be used to make a quilt top larger without having to make more blocks, or to make many different blocks work together.

This is a Chinese Coins quilt with pink sashing between the rows of "coins".
