Looking for a large tree skirt.

I know this is a craft "do it yourself" quilt forum but I thought you might be able to help me out.

We are looking for a large beautiful quilted tree skirt for our tree . It should be between 66" and 72" in diameter. Does anyone know where I can purchase one out of a quilt or specialty catalog for this or next Christmas season.

I did a quick look on Google for 'quilted tree skirt', and there seemed to be lots of suppliers. No idea what they are like in reality, but you may find a supplier near you so you could go and look, or a well-known store you trust.

An alternative would be to ask at your local quilt store. They may know of someone who would make you one but of course this would be for Christmas 2006.

If you decided to make your own, they would be able to offer advice too.

Thanks for all your replies so far.

I've already checked Ebay, Google, all the marts and a couple Christmas shops. No one seems have anything bigger than 60 inches wide. We have a

56" tree skirt now but it is really too small for the tree. It seems like it will have to do for this year.

Howdy! Buy 2 of those goofy mass-produced quilts in your choice of colors (Target, Kohl's, Bed Bath & Beyond, Linens 'n Things have some Christmassy ones); wrap (creatively arrange) one quilt 1/2 way around the base of the tree, wrap the other quilt around the other side of the base of the tree. Overlap them a bit and pile a bunch of gifts on them. Simple, cheap, effective. And kind of pretty, too.

Oh, I like that idea! I like the look of a quilted/patchwork tree skirt, but I haven't wanted it enough to actually make it, only enough to feel guilty over *not* making one!

... and to keep a lot of ladies in foreign countries employed - they don't make much - but I reckon something is better than nothin'. I never buy these quilt but mostly because I can make my own and better. I have a dentist appt this morning and I dread it. My liver is acting up and it causes me to bruise and bleed easily. It's not going to be a pleasant experience for either the dentist or me.

Well I'm so proud for you. I had one and that was way better than I expected. So now I just need to get them cleaned and I'm good to go for another 6 months.
