Looking for blades

Where do you folks buy blades for rotary cutters? I am appalled at prices -- WalMart used to have them cheap but now they're as expensive as the LQS, and whenever I have a 50% off JoAnn's coupon they run out of blades. So I want to order, but don't want to end up paying more than I would if I just quit complaining and bought them at regular price.

Any suggestions?

If you can afford to invest in a 10 pack of blades, Hancock's of Paducah has a good price on them.

Sunny Don't know what you call reasonable but HofP usually has

10X45mm Olfa blades for about US$25pph. I HATE their web system but persevere once a year to stock up on basics.

I usually get mine at JoAnn's with my coupon, but Hancock's of Paducah had good prices. I have ordered from them the last few times I needed blades.

And beware of off-brand wannabes. I bought some that were duds. Purely, absolutely duds. Polly

Hancocks of Paducah is where I get blades unless I'm lucky enough to find them at Joanns when they're on sale.

Just a thought, you can use an online coupon for Joann's and get your blades from them.

Use your next JoAnn's 50% off coupon on a rotary blade sharpener :)

speaking of sharpeners - does anyone sharpen their blades? Does it really work?

just got one of these - haven't tried it yet. I didn't like the old style sharpener I had - and so never bothered to use it.

Jan, I tried sharpening my blades. My friend swears by it. I found it frustrating. I think I'm really hard on blades, nicking the edges and the like more than just dulling them. I have two sharpeners and what I do with them is sharpen the occasional used blade for my husband to use on his rotary cutter in the garage that he uses on cardboard and such.

Cheryl, let me know if that sharpener works well. I just loving buying gadgets and that looks like a good one. I really don't like the old style sharpener either. But I'd like to hear about your new toy.

It might be a couple of weeks (building going on here ATM) but I will post with opinions from my sewing group - who will doubtless want to try out all the new gadgets I have amassed during the summer break lol

Sounds great. A bit pricey, but blades are pricey also.

I have used my rotary blade sharpener. Am happy with it so far!

I have used a sharpener for years. It really can extend the life of a blade, but not indefinitely! I does not remove nicks, so if you blade is skipping, it probably has a nick and need to be replaced!
