Miss Polly Day

Mar 31, 2009 13 Replies

I was given a very interesting "Calendar of Observances" last Christmas. It's become part of my morning ritual to look at this calendar as I'm having my first cup of coffee to properly prepare for the day's appropriate fashion and scheduling. After looking at what I should observe and/or celebrate this morning I've decide to dedicate this day to one of our own. It is "She's Just Funny That Way" day. Our own, truly unique, Miss Polly instantly came to mind.

Happy Day Miss Polly!!!

I also found it rather ironic that 3/29 - 4/4 is shared by "Root Canal Awareness Week" and "Consider Christianity Week"......I'm just sayin'.

Val

I'm thinking that you and Polly should share the day ....I'm just sayin'.

Great idea! My day is half over; but I'll make the best of what's left >g<

Happy funny day Polly! . In message , Val writes

We start out reading our local newspaper's Sound Off column. They let folks call in and complain about whatever is on their minds. Oh my goodness, it does make us so happy to be retired. We don't have to be one bit polite about the whiners and we don't have to solve their problems. Right now, DH is out in the rain cutting the grass in the pecan grove. We have 3 more days of heavy storms coming in and it's a sort of 'now or never' situation. Easy to entertain old people. Polly

Guess I should have looked at your calendar before going to the dentist yesterday -- I'd have been warned. I've been having a bit of aching in a tooth that had a crown put on about 15 months ago; the aching was worse last week so called the dentist. My dentist is out of the office for a week, so saw his partner yesterday. The tooth is apparently abscessed and he referred me to an endodontist for a possible root canal. Yuck - I am SO not looking forward to that :(

You know, I thought EVERY day was Miss Polly Day...... Just sayin'..........

Everybody have a wonderful Miss Polly Day!! (Those needing root canals will be allowed to celebrate at a later date with no penalties for early -- withdrawal????)

I'm adding my best wishes for Polly's "day"!

I think having a Miss Polly Day is a super idea. Come on down and we'll party. Would you like cold beer and boiled crawfish? Petit fours and special tea? Just baked bread and some grand honey? We Swamp folk aren't much on grandeur but we do love to party. I haven't had a Rusty Nail and dark chocolate in a long time. That sounds good to me. Polly

Mmmmmm ... I *love* Rusty Nails, and I haven't had one in forever, either!

I'll be down ( actually that should be up ...)

I love tea, give the beer a miss and have never tried Petit fours or a Rusty Nail.

Time for a celebration

"Polly Esther" I think having a Miss Polly Day is a super idea. Come on down and we'll

Petit Four is just a pretty little cake with icing and dainty decoration. OTOH, a Rusty Nail is fine Scotch and I forget the other special ingredient but I can remember it before you can get here. Dramboui ? Maybe? Something with a high octane. Lethal. Wonderful. My cardiologist would stop me from swallowing much but I really could enjoy the aroma and slosh it around in my mouth before he clamped down on my throat. Come on down. Up? Polly

Dang!! I'll take cold beer and boiled crawfish. And a Rusty Nail for dessert, if you don't mind (yes, it is fine scotch and Drambouie, equal parts. Did I mention I used to bartend for a living, about a hundred years ago?)

TerriLee in WA (state) (who loves crawfish, and can't get them here)

Beer and crawfish sounds great.

Firing up the aircraft engines as we speak (write).

Head on down to Louisiana and I'll treat you to some crawfish, TerriLee!! With corn and potatoes too!
