Mixing cotton and rayon in quilt?

Rooting through my stash to work out a quilt to take the place of Leslie's wedding quilt (the one that went Really Bad) I came across a piece of fabric that is the PERFECT COLOR and the PERFECT PRINT. But I'm almost certain it's rayon. Can I mix that with the rest, which are mostly Moda marbles and botanicals? It would be used for small pieces spaced regularly through the quilt and then for the top and bottom borders.

Well Heidi, we both know I am no quilt expert here - but I am an expert at destroying rayon! Every rayon item that has ever come through my door - I seem to be able to pucker, shrivel and shrink it! I despise things that are "dry clean only" and every piece of rayon I have ever seen was just that.

I can't imagine putting it in a quilt and having to have it "dry cleaned only".

just my two cents, Tina

Tina, you are not an expert at destroying rayon until you learn to fry it. Just touch it with a steam iron set on cotton. Then, and only then, you will qualify as an expert. Polly

Do everything to a sample of this fabric that you will do to your finished quilt: wash, iron on cotton setting, mark with chalk and/or permanent pen, whatever. See what happens, then decide. Roberta in D
