Motivation Please.

But I actually enjoy cleaning the bathroom ...........

Oh how I wish I had a LQS here......... alas....... there is none. Since I live north of nowhere in a place not known for much except retirement for farmers and oilfield work there isn't much of a call for a QS. Closest thing here in town is WallyWorld LOL

Well I went to my stash, didn't come up with a plan or anything in mind, but I did get some sorting done that needed to be and now I can see that I need to get my area cleaned up and maybe that clean space will inspire me a tad :)

I am not sure you helped my motivation factor but you sure did help my relaxation mode kick in! I can imagine walking quietly along a beach somewhere and just soaking up the beauty of nature herself.

My current motivation is....Christmas is coming and I want to make most of my gifts this year!! So I gotta keep sewing! :)

I think that may have deadlocked me...made a big list of Christmas projects, then it started to feel like a chore, and I haven't been sewing much lately (but lots of playing with fabric and dreaming and cutting, so I won't call it a slump yet).

Another suggestion: if you feel excited about the idea of any particular projects, maybe put out a request for fabrics here? Squishies have a way of inspiring. :)

you just HAD to mention Christmas didn't you? If nothing else yes that is a motivator. My family knows my like of sewing and this year are expecting great things.....arrrgghhh

I had quilters block for over 2 years and didn't make a thing. What finally broke the dam was a dear friend who came by to visit and brain storm about a gift she was going to buy for her grandson for his birthday. Her DD was redoing his nursery after buying him a Big Boy Toddler bed. It was in the shape of a ship and she was redoing the nursery into a nautical theme. My friend was going to buy accent items and help her daughter paint the room. She wanted a special bedspread that would have sail boats and in primary colors. She sketched on a napkin what she had in mind. All of a sudden I realized I could make this drawing into a quilt block easy peasy. I offered to see what I could do with her idea. After she left I went into my sewing room and worked all night and by the time my friend was off work the next day the quilt was done. She stopped by after work and I handed it to her. I haven't quit quilting since. It was like I finally got power to my creativity and I was back in the saddle again. Inspiration can be elusive. Make a quilt for the Katrina Victims and send it AQS or if Ms. Tina knows a source - send it there. Keep it simple and easy and the next thing you know you will be back in the groove. My problem is I over do it and then I get burn out. Right now - if I never see another piece of fleece - I will die happy. I didn't even count this bunch that went out last night. I have used up everything I had on hand and have only my store inventory in the house. It feels good to give but I am exhausted and hurt all over like I had been doing hard labor. So pass your block to me and I will carry it awhile while you quilt for the Katrina survivors.

I would so love to just dive in and make all these leftover scraps and bits into quilts for the survivors but due to a geographically challenged place of living..... I cant. I had to just donate money to the Salvation Army who is in turn sending all donations to the Canadian Red Cross. To ship out quilts or clothing or foodstuff or what have you costs a MINT from up here and then border crossings and so forth, they found it was not worth the hassles of shipping things and that the money was a better choice.

STOP! JUST STOP! Stop thinking of making something....just grab 2 pieces of fabric and sew them together.....then grab two more and continue on----you are NOT making anything at this point in time----you are just relaxing to the sound of the humming of the SM. Now, if that gets you started onto something else---so be it--if it doesn't then just continue sewing the 2 pieces together......after you get a chain of them start another chain....... Someday, down the road a piece, you can take those chains apart and sew them back together and there you have the start of a 'Crazy quilt' or a nine patch or a........ This is how the Chinese Coins Quilt was started--and no, it is NOT finished......it's a someday quilt at this point in time and that is fine : )

ya know.......... that aint a half bad idea hun! Lord knows I have a bazillion bits that need to be married in some way.......

Ya can call it the *Married Quilt* when you are done----and NO deadlines to meet. Now that sounds like fun in and of itself : )
