It worked great! I could tell where the bothersome spots were and ignore those that were going to be covered with table service or hang below the table. That's sometimes hard to see when working on an ironing board. It would have been nice to have someone hold the tablecloth as I slid the pad from place to place. KJ

Waaaaahhhhh! I'm glad you did that before I saw you were going to. I invented a press board that isn't good enough. I now have a slightly ruffled big green cutting mat. It's swapped around to the side of the cutting table that can't be reached anyway and does no harm . . . Polly

Hey Polly, I have one of those too! A brand, spanking new one that I ruffled the very first day I brought it home. Waaaaahhhhh. It is good to have friends to cry with.

I have been known to set my ironing board right next to the table. As I iron the cloth I pull it directly onto the table. Ironing tablecloths is a pain but it looks so much better with the china and silver. I might not spend much time cooking but I do set a nice table. Fortunately my husband is always willing to hand wash the good china and silver. I try to set the table the day before so there isn't so much fussing on the day of the special dinner.

That's what I've been doing today too Susan. Setting the table and making all the dishes so they can be popped in the ovens tomorrow. THEN....yuck, cleaning up after myself and mopping floors etc. I do like the ironing board next to the table idea. I'll try that one next time!! KJ

Good Luck, KJ....sounds like it should work well!

I usually just dampen mine, put it in the dryer, along with a fabric softener sheet, take it out before it gets super dry; then put it on the table. Works for me :)
