Need good prayers

I'm due sept 4 with this surrogate baby but I don't think he's going to wait. Which is ok I'm far enough along and everyone is healthy. However I would really like some prayers for a normal delivery and quick recovery. I'm worried about baby coming too fast because this is baby #8 and that my thyroid will crash afterwards. Leaving me struggling just to cope with the basics in life till it straightens out. Thanx for reading if you got this far. I'll post after the event. Everyone is on stand by on pins and needles right now. Take Care Joanna Alberta

Have you considered getting together basic birth supplies for home and in the car? It might reassure you a bit if you know you have something to wrap the baby in and to catch the placenta!

My first was very fast and the possibility of scheduling an induction to avoid an unplanned out of hospital birth was mentioned, I wasn't interested as I was hoping for a homebirth, unfortunately I ended up being admitted to hospital and went into labour on the antenatal ward and was in transition by the time I got upstairs to the delivery unit and that transfer was bad enough, so I do understand you concerns.

Oh, I'm ready bags are packed and sitting by the door. Parents are ready, car seat in their van and baby's diaper bag is packed. Ya I worry I won't make it to hospital but if that happens I really don't have any say in it what so ever. So the plan is when the first pain hits I'll all ready be half way out the door.

I wasn't really anxious until all the signs appeared and then nothing. Baby has dropped, I've lost 6lbs, blood pressure went lower, pressure in the hips, cervix is at 3cm, everything I eat goes through me and I've lost part of the mucous plug. So I know it's anytime, but anytime could be between now and the next couple of weeks. Baby will decide.

What a wonderful gift you are giving to the baby and the parents. Oh my, how wonderful. There is next, of course, the thyroid concern. Have you discussed and made plans for that possibility with your doctor? To our total bafflement and astonishment and so on, we are astounded at the ignorance of doctors with thyroid swings and crashes. I'd be tempted to take a black Marx-a-lot and write on my big belly: Check thyroid! Bless you. Holding you close, Polly

Yes, my dr's are very good or should I say I don't let them forget. I always have a lab rec on me to get tested whenever I feel the need. But we have talked about after delivery we will test every 4 weeks unless I start feeling really bad. Then I can test sooner. My regular dr leaves it up to me. She says "you know how you feel."

Your idea with marker though, really good and I've heard of even a dr do> What a wonderful gift you are giving to the baby and the parents. Oh my,

Actually, all 3 joint surgeries I've had, the doctor has either done this when he spoke to me before being prepped, or handed me the pen to do it myself.

It's really frustrating when things are like that, I ended up being admitted for monitoring overnight at 36 weeks when my blood pressure shot up. Whilst I was on the monitor, I started having strong and regular contractions, so they checked me and I was 2.5cm and losing my plug. Given it was a planned c-section and previous babies were fast, they didn't want to turn it into an emergency c-section, but nor did they want a preemie if it didn't turn out to be the real thing. It was really frustrating as they made me stay lieing on my left side due to the blood pressure, but the contraction felt way worse in that position, they also wouldn't give me painkillers. Thankfully they did stop, but I spent the next week jumping at every twinge.

Good Luck Anne

Yep, when I had the melanoma surgey last December 31st, the doctor and I did that before I went in to the surgery suite. It wouldn't have done any good to simply say "cut the arm with the butterfly tattoo", since both wrists have one in roughly the same spot ;)
