Need help from quilters.. Heart Quilt Blocks in trade for donation please read!

Personally I don't know why they think that this quilt is advanced. I would say that it may be intermediate due to the different blocks needed and getting the layout right. The actual blocks themselves are easy.

I think the colors suggested sound great- which ones to be the background and which to be the "accent" color?

I think I'm bashing my head against a brick wall with this one. It really doesn't matter what people said to you off the group - that's quite irrelevant to my point. You made an error and trod on peoples toes. You compounded the error with attempts to tell us we were wrong, and we are not. The charter forbids advertising IN ANY FORM, and offering thing for sale (that is, in exchange for money) is advertising. Let me quote your original post:

"Send a donation of one dollar, or whatever you wish, and I will send you a heart quilt block for each dollar recieved."

So, in what way are you NOT selling , for a dollar a piece, these quilt blocks? You are offering them in exchange for money: that's advertising a sale. It's forbidden by the charter.

The reason for the sale is also irrelevant.

The Earthlink news server I get this group from has messages going back at least as far as 6/15/03, and the only posts about the FAQ I see are from today. Perhaps a link to the FAQ page should be posted regularly, maybe biweekly or so?

Thank you - although I wasn't tooting my own horn, or expecting congratulations by what I said. I simply wanted to point out that you can lose weight. If I did more exercise I'd prolly lose more. If I didn't occasionally "break out" I'd prolly lose more. But I'm doing it nice n easy, not banning different foods because they are bad. And I'm doing it as a diabetic. It is awkward trying to calculate how much food/insulin to have to avoid hypos. My specialist and I have worked out a rough guide but it still needs to be fine tuned - too much insulin and I have a hypo and guzzle anything in sight. Not enough and I go to sleep. So far so good....

I'm trying to get clear on some of this topic.

As I read the quote from the charter that was posted on this thread, I don't see any "no selling/advertising" language. The "no selling/advertising" part seems to come from "ground rules" (made by whom? binding on whom?) at some later date. Or am I missing something?

The Usenet FAQ mention that advertising may be treated with disdain and is discouraged, but is not necessarily forbidden. There was even a mention in the FAQ that a brief, one-time advertisement would not usually be cause for abuse. Again, did I miss something?

As I reviewed this thread, it did go on quite a while, and got sarcastic and disrespectful, before anyone actually mentioned to Cheyne that her advertising was "against the rules." The conversaton among the RCTQ insiders treated these rules as though they should be universally known. A newsgroup newbie might not even know there are FAQ. (I have no idea how new Cheyne may be; perhaps she *should" have known better.)

I don't know if Cheyne is for real or not, but more clarity and gentleness on our part at the very beginning of this thread might have kept the heat down.

I reviewed the various threads too, using Google to help me "catch up" on what I'm reading here.

Cheyne is an unusual name, so it wasn't too difficult to do a Google search. At first, I was looking for connections to "our" (well, many other groups share in this) usenet troll to whom I'd prefer not to give credit (the old-timers know her well), as she is always willing to add to her growing portfolio of tomfoolery, so it is conceivable that the referenced email which Cheyne does not claim was the work said troll, but I digress).

If this Cheyne is the person she says she is (and not an impersonator), then I've just read a flattering (well, I think so anyway) article about her and a few of her peers from the web archives (originally from the Houston Chonicle back in 2000), about a young woman of 19 who formed a company to do something about the drug abuse present in the rave parties they enjoyed attending. This certainly fits with the entrepreneurial person we've met here, so her defending what's left of her Google presence, is certainly justified, as it will likely be read by a future employer unless she is lucky enough to be running the dang company herself.

Yes, that's probably a duel-edged swoard defense, but pretty much brings it all back around to the original theme. Hey, I'm not taking sides, just presenting what I've read.

And remember folks...whatever you write here will be here for your grandchildren and everyone else to read.

Thanks! I don't really know. The black will obviously recede. How can I use that most effectively? I'm really still in the planning stages. I'm searching the web trying to find pictures of how others have done it effectively and see what I think "works". Will keep you posted! Thanks for the support!

Ok ladies, I don't know about you, but I have read enough wineing and complaining from this poster to last me forever!

The subject wil not die, *but* you can apply a 'kill filter' to your e-mail and it will go away.

I am using Agent to read this newsgroup and if you are too, you can simply add her to the kill filter list so I will never receive another message from her on the list. She may send them, but I will never see them!

If you are using Outlook, you can block the sender, or block the subject.

This is just my suggestion.
