Need inkjet fabric advice

i recently did a reverse applique project for my son using some inkjet paper which was a failure - stupidly i forgot to wash the inkjet fabric before sewing and when things shrank it didnt' stay attached to the jeans they were behind. Additionally, they faded quite a bit.

is there a Best Practices for inkjet paper before i try again? How can i eliminate fading? Is there a BEST fabric?

I've ordered some interesting paper from a chemical company that sounds perfect - it's pfd, 200 count, and says that it's perfect for inkjet with very little fading. I'll let you all know when I try it.

I've only used inkjet stuff for T-shirt designs - the problem wasn't fading, but that the colour just flaked off after a few washings. Do newer transfer papers bond to cotton better?

addition - I just purchased the newest Quilter's Home mag where Mark L reviews 4 different printer fabrics. The one I just ordered came dead last, sigh.
