new laptop and new quilt

Although she has not done to much recently, she has a long time interest in genealogy, and has done quite a bit of research as far back as pre Mayflower Germany. Or, as I jokingly say, she has traced us both back to the Garden of Eden. She has, as she says, traced me back to the Snake. She has been a longtime member of various genealogy groups: DAR,Hessian Society,Colonial Dames, Daughters of the war of

1812, and probably others that I can't seem to remember right now. I call them all, her "Girly Groups", even though that is not strictly correct. Right now she is at a confrence and seminar at Samford, in Birmingham Alabama for a week of workshops with some of the "leading lights" as she calls them, in their fields. She has been going there with a couple of her girlfriends for the last couple of years and it gives her a chance to immerse herself in the current state of the art as delivered by the leaders in each element of the fields of genelogy research. She has started looking into my side of things and has discovered some interesting characters. More interesting than hers, or so she says. Probably more likely to be seen on the Post Office Wall. I don't have any interest in the whole thing, and if you don't get bitten by the bug, it is just a big yawn. At least it keeps her out of the bars, is what I tell our friends. If she does express any interest in the Mac platform, I will of course pass on the various things you all have mentioned, but she is way ahead of me when it comes to all things geneaological.

More power to her. I am proof that genealogy (searching for the dead, as my DH says) is every bit as addictive as quilting. - except stash fabrics are more fun to fondle than paper copies of documents . ME-Judy

I installed another 1 gig of memory in this bad boy and it does scream not. It was faster than my old computer but now it snaps when you bring up new pages. Boy, the technology is improving by leaps and bounds. And to think, it is the lowest priced laptop I could buy from Apple. I would hate to think how fast one of the hight priced spreads would be.
