Just returned from my V & A trip. I hope that my feet will return by tomorrow.
I got there at 10 and went to get my pre-booked ticket in case there were queues at 11, but they said I could go in right away, so it was about 10.15 when I went into the exhibition, and almost 1.00 when I came out!
I bought the book about the exhibition and three pieces of fabric which I intend to make into yet another bag. I wasn't going to buy any fabric, but one design stuck at the front of my brain, and although they hadn't the exact fabric pattern, the one I bought was very similar, the others tone in well and are of a similar date, so they will remind me of a fabulous day.
The little applique scenes which were popular in the 1800s made me feel very lazy, but this was tempered by the lovely quilt from 1829 which still isn't finished. It has all the papers (little ones) still basted to the back. I wonder why the maker didn't finish it. It was/would have been a wonderful quilt.
Very sobering to see what the women of long ago with no modern aids made.
The coach journey was fine (nice not to have to worry about DH falling asleep at the wheel like he did in Scotland last year), hotel very plush (Waldorf Hilton does an excellent package for tour companies at weekends!), and all in all a very good weekend.
No pictures as cameras weren't allowed, but good pictures throughout the Curator's blog:

So very pleased your V A visit was as good as you had hoped Sally.I do hope I can manage to get up to DD and have a sleep over and see the exhibition before it ends.
Just washed the fabric - 2 fat quarters and a half metre. On the pack measurements were in metric, and I've only just noticed that the width is 60". That is very good! (It was a bit more expensive than usual, but I took that to be because of where it came from, and not the size).

Yes, I noticed that when I cut into one of my pieces last week. It made me feel better about the price too

Howdy!
Thanks for the report, Sally. Wish I could see it all. ;-)
