I have uploaded some new photos of a finished baby quilt and also some inspiring tiled floors at the V & A - taken when Kate and I went to see the Quilts exhibition.

Not really sure if Smokey and Rocky are inspecting or taking possession. I guess you could ask. Polly

I bought some V&A/Liberty fabric there too and thought I might do some tile inspired work. My aim is to start with easy ones, like those I took photos of, and work up to some more complex ones.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I can see the faults, but only 'cos I'm not on that galloping horse ;-) The cats seem to think my quilting is quite acceptable too. I shall have to try and get Mally to give her stamp of approval to the next one.

DD has now nearly finished moving out so I shall have my sewing room back in the next week or so. I had it almost ready a year ago and she came home for "a few weeks"! I am hoping this means I can quilt some of my larger UFOs as I also acquired a Horn cabinet and then got the insert to suit my machine :-)

I'm going next Monday. I know Bank Holiday isn't an ideal time to pick, but the local coach firm had a Special Break in London offer and it saves all the hassle of parking/wondering if the train will turn up/wondering if the train will reach London before it is time to catch the one home, etc.. (Lesson learned on disastrous trip to Chelsea Flower Show a couple of years ago. Also I like the idea of a rather classy overnight stay!

Do you have any 'handy hints'? Is it hot/cold/everything? Also, as a matter of interest, roughly how long did it take you to go round the actual exhibition. My ticket is for 11.00am. and DH is going to the Darwin Exhibition at the Natural History Museum with a ticket timed the same as mine.

Put as much of your baggage in the cloakroom as possible.

There is a huge range of styles of quilts. I have to say most of those pieces commissioned for the exhibition left me cold, but the historical quilts are so very varied and enjoyable. Some made us giggle, some awed us and all had so, so much work in them.

I would allow 2 to 3 hours, probably longer as it is the BH weekend and could be busy.

There are no photos allowed in the Quilts exhibition itself, but you can take photos of the permanent exhibits.

Enjoy your trip,

Lizzy
