New photos of completed wall hanging

I have actually finished something - thank you Kate for the Yahoo group which helps kick me in the right direction!

It is a wall hanging 23.5" x 21.5" with a felted centre based on galaxy M81. I mounted it onto a navy/black hand dyes and then added a piped border and a pieced border before quilting. The outer border quilting was inspired by a design by Mary Covey

Then I added decorative threads, beading and even some glow in the dark thread in the centre.

This one even needed a name so as I started it the year Arthur C Clarke died it has become "....the space that yawns between the stars...."

The more I thought about the above border, the more I realise that the above attribution is incorrect (although I have volume 2 and like and use it). I actually used a style from "Mindful Meandering" by Laura Lee Fritz,

Thank you all for the kind comments. It is now hanging in my front room where I can admire it every day - and DH does too. At some point I might move it elsewhere in the house, but for the moment it has a home (nice try though Estelle).

I did faintly consider entering it the UK Festival of Quilts, but it is the wrong size - too big for a miniature and too small for any other category.

Great job. I especially liked the spiral quilting -- an echo of sprial galaxies.

You still have time to enter it for Quilts UK in Malvern. What size is it? Grosvenor have a different categorisation for miniature; and there is only an upper limit on 'small wallhanging'. You can get the rules from the Grosvenor Publications website:

Patti, I know you're British and all that, but are you sure categorisation is a word? =) Polly

Fairly sure, yes! I would have said totally sure until you asked! However, my spell checker did not object. I'll try it again now: categorisation - no, no red line >g<

I do still retain 's' rather than 'z' more than you in the US; but spell checker didn't mind it spelled with a 'z' either.

The noun from most of the verbs ending in ise/ize go straight to that form by dropping the 'e' and adding 'ation': authorise, realise, (I wonder about synthesise?).

Fun - word talk! . In message , Polly Esther writes
