Jo's baby

Morning all! i've just (and only just!) seen an email from Jo's Mark about the baby...............

"Tristan Frederick Cox, was delivered at 14:33 on Tuesday 19th January at Dundee's Ninewells Hospital.

Unfortunately, nothing about the labour went to plan and Jo ended up having an emergency caesarian section. The problems didn't end there as a blood vessel was not reattached whilst they were sewing her up and she was rushed back into the operating theatre at a couple of hours later suffering from major blood loss. Fortunately, the surgeons were able to repair the blood vessel and she was given multiple blood transfusions - to the extent that none of the blood she ended up with was her own! There are potential complications to such major blood transfusions and Jo has spent the last 24 hours in the High Dependancy Unit of the Labour Suite at Ninewells with multiple drips and monitors but has shown remarkable improvement. She is expected to continue to improve now that the immediate crisis is passed. Tristan is a very health, happy baby despite the dramatic nature of his arrival.

Jo will have to stay in hospital for several days yet and will, no doubt, e-mail you with all the gory details when she returns home."

I will try to contact Mark and find out if Jo is well enough for hospital visitors and will let you all know if I get to see her.

Polly I'm sorry to have got you to bursting point, I won't do it again!

Welcome Tristan!

Dramatic arrival indeed. Very gentle {{{{hugs}}}} to Jo.

Please pass on best wishes from me if you do visit her and Tristan. Why not suggest that Mark prints out replies to this thread to take in to Jo so she can see that RCTQ is sending good wishes in her direction.

T'was funny though ;-) You could almost see the words in her posting jumping up and down in excitement.

Thanks for passing on the news. I had an e-mail too, and I was bursting (like Polly), but .... orders is orders >gg<

Poor Jo, what a fright that must have been. Let's hope all now goes swimmingly for the whole family (Mark must have been distraught).

All good wishes from me to Jo, Mark and baby Tristan (I will forever think of him as a vet in All Creatures Great and Small !). . In message , Megwen writes

And how long is he? Do we know his hair colour, any birth marks, etc.? I don't know about the rest of y'all, but I want all the info I can get! Poor Jo, to have to go through all of that (((Jo, Tristan, Mark & Family). HRH Tristan had an easy time of it tho' so hopefully he doesn't look too much like a tiny little gnome -- LOL. When will we get to see photos??? CiaoMeow >^;;^<

rotten luck, c-sections are great when they are needed, but we trust the doctors to do them properly!

Congratulations on the baby, I love the name and I hope everything gets back to the "new" normal quickly - I hope Jo has enough help, different people respond differently, but I needed every minute DH could give after an uncomplicated c-section, thankfully DH gets generous paternity leave, could use his sick leave (major surgery in a relative counts) and had unused annual leave. I'm crossing everything that Jo and Mark can get the help she probably needs somehow.

Cheers Anne
