Jo's baby 2

Hi folks,

I have just returned from a visit to Jo, Mark and Tristan. Jo is still in special care and will be there for at least a couple more days. She is looking very tired still. Tristan is gorgeous! I have had a cuddle for all of us and he didn't cry too much!

He has lots of brown hair, blue eyes (at the moment) and there were no obvious birthmarks. He is 23 inches long, so since Jo is only 5ft 5ins tall they are not sure how she managed to tuck him away!

Mark is learning how to change nappies and is a very proud father, he is also very tired as a result of the problems with Tristan's birth. He has been borrowing a pram in the Hospital and taking Tristan for walks to give Jo time to sleep.

Oh, brilliant! I'm not surprised she's still in special care. I hope they make sure she really is fit to go home when they discharge her.

He muct have had one foot in hyperspace! ;)

What a great daddy! I really do feel for Jo. It's so hard when you can't take care of a new baby.

James was in special care and I was fine... I got plenty of rest for the first week, and the nurses had fun with a baby they could actually pick up and cuddle rather than going in for fingertip nursing and feeding with a syringe!

I hope he knows just how many cyber-aunties he has rooting for for him and his mum, and that Jo knows too.

He must be glad to be able to stretch out at last!

Sounds like Mark is doing all the right things. I hope Jo doesn't try to come home too soon, but I also understand just how tiring a hospital can be if their timetable doesn't mesh with your own body clock.

Thanks for being our reporter on the ground.

Thanks for this report Megwen - great to hear that you have been able to visit. How lovely to have had a cuddle. I do hope Jo is, as Kate said, only discharged when she is completely fit again. The whole experience was exhausting for all concerned (except little Tristan - or perhaps I should say 'wee Tristan' in the circumstances - of Scotland!). Let's hope a few days will now improve Jo and Mark's strength. . In message , Megwen writes

This is a wonderful report. Wish I could cuddle the little guy...what a sweet armful he must be. I hope Jo will be careful with herself for a time after they let her out. I lost a lot of blood with baby #1 and had transfusions. It was exhausting and very, very hard on the body in ways that don't really show up in tests. She will need TLC for a good long time to regain her full strength.

Megwen, Thanks soo much for the update. Can I be any more jealous that you had a cuddle? Can't wait to get pictures, but i'm sure that will be a while. Jo is to absolutely get much better before worrying about us!!

Happy days ahead!
