Quiltmaker's "contract"

As I've mentioned I'm a retired lawyer. Since I am in the process of considering accepting a commission for several quilts, I have had some fun drafting a sort of memorandum of understanding between the quiltmaker (me) and a typical client. It sets out the stages of quiltmaking in rather informal terms, and gives an idea of the time required and charges made for each stage.

While I think it would be inappropriate for me to publish this draft on the Internet, I would love to provide a copy to anybody here at rctq who would be interested in using their own version of such a document for their own work it OR who would be willing to critique it for my benefit.

I put my dressmaking contract up for prospective clients to see. It lets them know just where things should be and who is responsible for what.

I'd love to see your contract and see how it differs from mine. Email works...

Me too Edna. Some people just have no idea of what is involved in making a quilt or sewing anything for that matter. My email address is valid for a reply. Thanks and regards,

I've sent the draft "contract" to those who have requested it as of now. I've also sent a draft invoice form.

You can modify the word-processed "contract" any way you want for your own use. If you aren't comfortable with making tables and would like me to redraft the .pdf invoice for you, I'll be glad to.

I sent you an email directly, but think it might have gone into internet galaxy somewhere.

I'd be interested in seeing the contract!

I'd love to have a copy of the contract as well. How much to charge frequently comes up amongst my friends & there is so much to consider before putting the pen to paper. Thanks Edna! My email is good.

I would love a copy as well of your MOU. I think that is a super idea and since I am just getting back to my stash I need to regroup my brain and ideas and my approach :)

My reply address is valid.

I'm having a problem with your e-mail addy, Kate. Would you please e-mail me your un-munged addy? I'm a little overwhelmed by the requests I've received.

Thanks!
