False alarm or answered prayers? Just depends on how you believe.
I knew Mom's urinary tract infection was back. Of course her doctor wasn't in on Sunday. I really wanted to get the antibiotic started so took her to the Convenient Care which is an after hours clinic run by the hospital. I thought this would be less traumatic than a visit to the emergency room. Besides the urine sample they did blood work. The Convenient Care doctor was very concerned with the blood tests saying the white count was way off and there were signs her kidneys were failing. They wanted her to go straight to the hospital for more tests. I hand carried all the test results to the hospital.
The emergency room doctor looked at the same test results and didn't see much of a problem other than Mom was a little dehydrated along with a rather mild infection. He ran the tests again to confirm his thoughts. The second set of tests showed everything was normal except for the infection. He gave two reasons: 1. the dehydration had caused false readings or 2. since they had trouble drawing Mom's blood they had run the tests on too little of a sample thus again giving the false readings.
They gave her one bag of antibiotic and one bag of fluid in the ER and allowed her to come home. Of course she will see her our doctor later this week.
Thank you for your prayers. It has been a long day. I will report again tomorrow.
