Prayers needed in Australia please

Apr 22, 2007 19 Replies

In January I asked for prayers and good thoughts for a family member going through colon cancer surgery - her prognosis is excellent. However, news has come from Australia this week that her sister is diagnosed with the very same cancer. Yvonne is undergoing surgery this weekend and we are hopeful that her prognosis will be the same as her sister's. Yvonne had been in Canada over the Xmas season and was able to support her sister in the weeks prior to her surgery - she had been preparing to return for the summer season here - now she is preparing to fight for her own survival in Australia. The power of multiple prayer is needed for the positive outcome and hopefully the reunion of these two sisters in the near future where they can support each other through their common illness. Thank you in advance, everyone jennellh (change the mail to news)

sending healing vibes across the Tasman as i type. should arrive post haste. how odd for sisters to have the same disease so close in time as well. i do hope they're both back on their feet and rid of that monster for next xmas. jeanne

Healing thoughts and prayers from South Florida.

Prayers for Yvonne and family and hugs all around. Here's hoping for a swift an uneventful recovery and a clean bill of health.

Prayers sent from central Texas for healing, health and reunion. In some ways we are all sisters.

Prayers and loving wishes for Yvonne and all her family on their way.

My very best wishes to Yvonne for a speedy and complete recovery

I am a classic lurker on this board and have gleaned much from you wonderful and experienced quilters. In reading this post I just needed to comment. My sister was just diagnosed with colon cancer in February. She was very ill for several months and the doctors could not figure it out. She became very ill and needed a colostomy bag, but in God's goodness they were able to reverse the colostomy a week later when the doctor went to get the tumor. My sister is now on a chemo regime for six months.

I am from a very large family and all us siblings are in the process of being tested for this cancer. This is a huge surprise for us because no one in our family has ever had cancer. I just got the results of my test and I had a precancerous tumor in my colon, I hugged my sister and told her that I owed her on because that most definitely would have become a tumor and I would not have been tested for at least five years. The polyp they found was in th exact spot where my sister's tumor was located.

All that to say that I will be praying of these two sisters...

Good thoughts and wishes are going out. Where all in Oz is Yvonne? Can one of us who are close help out with anything????

Hi Sharon, thank you for your thoughts and wishes for Yvonne - she lives in Keiraville, NSW (Wollongong). Her cousin in Oz will stay in touch with her by phone and will take her home from the hospital when it is time. Barb is waiting for Yvonne to go into her own room (with phone) so that they can talk to each other. I plan to make a card for her that will incorporate all the messages that everyone has sent for her from the ng - planning a couple of hugs also for the 2 sisters will keep me out of trouble for a while. jennellh (change the mail to news)
