Sending good thoughts and prayers to the family. What a terrible thing to have happen any time of the year but winter and Christmas seems the worst possible timing.

My former hubby once lost his wedding ring in our barn- with the hay and straw about a foot deep on the floor and horses, cattle, goats and chickens and geese tromping thru there. He went to the senior citizen's center and found an ol' boy who had a metal detector. The nice gentleman was very pleased to get the chance to metal detect in our 100 yr. old barn. He found the ring and a lot of metal junk and some really cool old handmade nails and other small goodies which we were glad to give to him. He was happy to have something to do and the small metal treasures and we were very happy to have the ring back. Just a thought about her wedding rings.

Sending prayers and positive thoughts your way...hope you find those rings! I have a metal detector, but it won't do you any good unless you are within driving distance of me. Wish ya were! Do you have a magnet that is on a pole? Just a thought. I have one of those and had to rescue my DH shaver head screen a ma bob down the drain. I bought it cheap at the local hardware store.

Assuming the rings are gold, the magnet wouldn't be much help. Magnets are only attracted to things with a pretty high iron content.

Did the metal detector thing today and it was awful. All it did was beep. It was picking up the nails in the floor. So it didn't help us at all. We didn't have any luck finding it. Going to try again tomorrow.

We are actually hoping they can provide us with a picture and a friend of a friend could possibly re-make them for us for a slight cost. With this all being a huge secret though (VBG)

As much as I like my rings (which I've worn for over 40 years) and would hate to lose them, I don't think I'd want a duplicate set if I lost them, unless perhaps they were a gift from DH. Even then, I'd probably opt for a different style, perhaps just a simple gold band. But then, I would not have minded not having an engagement ring before we were married -- just a wedding band after the wedding. Of course, your DD may feel differently and you are in a better position than I to know that.
