URGENT PRAYERS PLEASE

Hi All

My mom is being operated at the moment. They fear she is not going to make it.

I know this group believe in the power of prayer and she desperately needs it now. I would really appreciate it if everyone could send her prayers and good thoughts please.

Thank you so much and God Bless

Hi Folks

I just wanted to thank each and everyone who kept my Mom and family in their thoughts and prayers. My Mom is still in ICU, but off the ventilator now, breathing on her own and awake.

The whole problem started about 2 moths ago when she had gastro. The GP that she was with, just kept giving her wide spectrum antibiotics, which helped a little, but never cured her of the gastro. A month ago she begged the doctor to do blood and every other kind of test to find out why she kept being sick. The doctor did do it (reluctantly) and when the results came back, only said that she had an infection and should not worry and keep on the antibiotics. Since last Friday she was in terrible pain and very weak by now, as you can imagine, having been sick and not keeping any food down for 2 months!!!

The Doctor only gave her Morphine pills on Monday and told her to sleep. When my DM's husband could not wake her up on Tuesday (after she had taken the pills) he decided to take her to the Emergency room at the Hospital. They started taking X-rays and blood tests and discovered that all of her organs and intestines have been very badly infected by now. They put her on a drip and the next day said that she needed an emergency operation because an ulcer as big as a tennis ball was on her colon and they feared it would burst. She already had peretinis, and that is why her white blood count was so high. The big problem was that she only has 30% lung capacity and they did not know if her body in it's weak state would be able to deal with the anesthetic, but if they did not operate immediately, it would be to late anyway, so they said we should take the chance.

The Surgeon was very happy with the operation itself, but she remained on a ventilator from Tuesday night after the operation until yesterday and is finally breathing on her own now and conscious. :))

It's been a tough year for me on a lot of levels, and not the least financially. We had a battle at work to get money for "overtime" work we had done and finally won that fight in the nick of time, just hours before we would have gone on an industrial strike, however, we have not seen any of that money yet - we should have it on Friday next, week, but as they say - seeing is believing. My Mom does not have any medical insurance and the hospital she is at is extremely expensive, especially the ICU unit where she is now, but I'm grateful that her husband took her to this hospital, because they are the best in her city and I don't know if she would have made it otherwise. Of course there is a mountain of medical bills that will have to be paid now by myself and my brother and sister., All my savings have been exhausted allready by the operation she had on Tuesday and I'm just hoping that our "backpay" will come through on this coming Friday.

That being said - I'm just so incredibly grateful that she made it and got another chance. I'm not the kind of person who walks with my faith on my sleeve, but I really do believe that considering all the things that could have gone wrong - this truly is a miracle! Many times in my life when I really felt there was know way out I begged God for His Grace and I really can testify that He has never failed me although I have failed Him many times!

Once again thank you to every one! Love you all *big hugz*!!!

Wow, what a rough couple of months your mom has had (& your family worrying about her)! So glad she made it thru the surgery OK & is improving. :::still sending lots of healing thoughts your mom's way:::

And here's hoping for pleasant surprises coming you & your siblings' way re: the medical bills. May they be lower than you anticipate & may money come your way to pay them that you're not expecting.

I'm thinking a medical malpractice suit against that original doctor might just pay for all these bills!! >:-(

Sorry to hear your mom had to suffer so much before finally getting help, and that she seems to be recovering now. We will keep her in our prayers for complete healing and no further complications, and you and your siblings in our prayers for financial help in answering all these unexpected bills that have come your way.

To all of you as you go through this ordeal, Judy. It's a miracle your mom survived. God has special plans for her obviously! :*)
