On my way...

Booked on the coach for an eight and a half hour coach journey up to York to see Nel. I'll print off you messages and take them to her. I should see her tomorrow evening.

I love being able to book and pay for tickets online and print them of at ungodly hours of the morning! At least I'm not traveling at 0dark:30 (or what my friend Amy calls Stupid o'clock in the morning!)

Coach is at 9:40 from Hempsted Valley, about 25 minutes from here and was less than half the train fare. Hence coach (which I shall dislike, but it's better than not going, and I can't get a train ticket at a sensible price unless I book a week in advance!).

I'm going to bed. It's no longer Late, it's now Early again, and I need to pack later this morning! ;)

No, it was National Express.

The coact h to London was excellent and comfy, and the one from London to York was a real Luxury thing with leather seats like airline seats!

We had a half our break on the way up, which helped.

(Posting through Goggle Groapes, on the floptap keyboard, which is less than ideal!)

Glad to hear you have arrived OK, even if GG is a nightmare. I'm sure you being there will be a boost for Nel.

i'm working on finding some hospital contact via email for us to send msgs to Jo in Scotland. one more is as do-able. what hospital is Nel in? whats her full name? i've sent off an email to Ninewells to find somewhere we can post our msgs that will be given to Jo. i'd think that would cheer up anyone who is in hospital. all the love arriving via email when we cant be there to give them real hugz. i'd probly not hear for several hours tho as i'm about 11 hrs ahead of them now. j.

Nel says THANK YOU for all the good wishes.

She is still very fragile and in need of our supporting wishes, but managed a short trip out to the National Quilt Museum, which is in York. During our time there, she got stuck into the quilt on the frame (a Welsh quilt that she designed and set up for them, that any member of the public who wished can have a go on! It's a fantastic interactive way to introduce folk to hand quilting in the Welsh style.). This was the last day of this particulat exhibition, but it was so good to see the old nel, with colour in her cheeks and enthusiasm and the joy of teaching lighting her up.

I took Geo Bear with us, but unfortunately we could not take pix in the exhibition hall, so there are none of him quilting! ;) I did take pix of him in the hall. I'll send him on his way this afternoon. By the time I'd got my computer sorted and got the pix, it was too late for the post office in Yorkshire.

This short trip exhausted Nel, and we delivered her back to her respite care 'feeling like a limp rag'. She managed to pull it together for our short visit yesterday afternoon, when we took the GMNT through to visit his Godmother. But it'll be a long slow process, so continued prayers will be appreciated.

She has a rather wonderful double sided red and black quilt with her. After trying various different styles, the whole-cloth hand quilted item seems to be her preferred method. This one is a sort of sashiko style in geometric patterns. I can hardly wait to see it completed. :)

Nel did have her laptop with her, but it has developed a fault, and the hospital doesn't have BB for patients. Hopefully it can be fixed (under waranty!) and she'll be back in cyberspace as soon as she's fit to do so.

And thanks fo Jeanne for trying to set up a messaging service, but this is a no-go. They don't have a mechanism for doing such a thing, and where she is would not admit she was there even if they had! It's funny like that, but is for patient safety. She may be able to take a short trip to the local internet cafe to catch up if the laptop is fixed before she comes home.
