New pics up!

I just added some pictures to my 2009 album. The blue and yellow quilt was made using a BOM pattern from Fat Cat Patterns. I hand appliquéd the blocks during the summer, then finally found a use for the blue and yellow stripe print that I bought many years ago. I had fun quilting, using variegated threads to accent the flowers and leaves. I tried a different fill-in quilting design in each of the 9 blocks. Planning the final 4" border took the longest time, figuring out the curves so that the corners would look good. The quilting design in the large light areas at the top and bottom of the quilt were adapted from Janie Donaldson's quilting patterns. I also made a Seminole strip purse. I had the pattern from a craft magazine that was from the early 80's. My Florida group wanted to try some Seminole work, so about a half-dozen are making handbags. I'll try to get pictures of them, if and when they finish.

I love the blue & yellow quilt. How big are your blocks? I'm thinking I'd like to do an hand appliquéd bed quilt one of these years. I've seen some that are shades of blue & I'm leaning that way, though I think it would need a touch of yellow on each block.

It truly is gorgeous. All of those beautifully mitered stripes are wonderful too. Now. You simply Must do something about the round table's cover. It looks like a red-haired stepchild beside your beautiful new creation. Polly

Absolutely beautiful, Susan. I love every single piece of it. Although I love the blocks, the border sings to me. What a simply lovely piece of work. . In message , Susan Torrens writes

No problem. In this economy, opening a can of worms may be all we can afford. Polly

We haven't even found any in this garden yet. Guess it's time for Mr Rose Man to go to Starbucks for their free coffee grounds.

Susan, shameless, shameless beg coming up....I LOVE that quilt! If it ever, ever needs a good home I promise to cherish it! :-)

Fabulous! Awesome job! I just can't say enough. I've done a little appliqué, but am really still a novice, so I'm totally inspired by your wonderful appliqué blocks. Your borders are fascinating too. It would have never occurred to me to do one thing at the top on bottom and another on the sides like you did. It's so interesting and really works. Did I tell you it was fabulous? ;-)

I've got a quilt top that needs some border additions, but what would work at the top and bottom won't work on the sides. Now that I've seen your quilt, maybe I can come up with a solution to my dilemma.

Thanks so much for sharing!
