Visit to New Zealand

Hi, we're going on a trip to New zealand in October and am just trying to sort out places to visit. We're starting off in christchurch travelling up to Golden Bay then across to Wellington, Napier, rotorua, coromandel and ending up in Auckland. Could anyone suggest any good quilt shops or other places of interest?

Thank you Sarah

Hi Sarah I'[m sure the NZ'ers will have some tips for you, Jeanne etc. As an Aussie, I have visited NZ just twice in the last five years. Napier is an absolutely fascinating town for its Art Deco architecture. An eathquake in 1931 pretty much destroyed the town, and it was rebuilt within a 10 year or so time in the AD style. They have a fabulous festival every March when all the town celebrates and dresses to the time, with vintage cars etc. It is also in the wine growing area of Hawkes Bay if you enjoy seeing wineries and sampling the drops of offer. Its the kind of town the menfolk like visiting. Friends of mine have just returned from touring the North Island and they said the Coromandel area was a standout. The B&B accomm in NZ is also excellent and if you like that style of travelling, you get to meet the locals as well.

Enjoy! Cheers Bronnie

Thanks, it ought to be an interesting visit. We are a little limited in what we can visit as it needs to be child friendly (or for a very short amount of time) as we will be travelling with a 6 and 4 year old. The 6 year old is having his birthday in Golden bay so will be 7 when we get back! I'm dreading the flights over, I think I need to make a padded straight jacket for the little one!
