Dana Point, CA Quilt Shop

I'm going to visit my bestest friend, who has just moved from New York state to Dana Point, CA. My trip down there was to coincide with the moving van showing up, but I'm arriving tomorrow, leaving Wednesday & the moving van is showing up Tuesday - maybe. So - we have to find something to amuse ourselves with. She's not a quilter, but she's a good sport! I was wondering if there are any "can't miss" shops nearby Dana Point that I can check out.

Material Possessions in Lake Forest is a favorite of mine. It isn't too far up the fwy. Debi likes Leah's and that is probably closer for you. I think they moved so you have to google, used to be 2 locations) If you are driving and want to stop at M&L in Anaheim that is fun. It is a ways north of Dana Point though. Honestly, just enjoying nosing around along the coast might be more fun that fabric shopping. Laguna Beach is well worth seeing. The drive up PCH is beautiful and I don't even like the ocean. Taria

Thanks Taria. Many years ago, I lived near Redondo Beach & had friends in Laguna, so I spent a lot time in the area - but it has been awhile. I'm sure I'll be going down to visit often, since it's so much closer than New York was. This trip, I'm flying down. I'm sure I'll drive from time to time, so I can load up with fabric along the way:) Oh my gosh - I love the ocean, so I'm getting my water fix. DH & I sold our sail boat a couple of years ago & we're wondering if we want to buy another one. His hobby is woodturning & mine, of course, is quilting, so we were spending a lot of money to berth the boat & we weren't using it much. Sailing in the San Francisco Bay is a little bit of heaven to us! I'm off to Google the shops!

Thanks Ginger. I'm dying to get to Rosie's, but I don't think I'll make it this trip. I'm flying into Orange County.

Pauline,

I am only 3 miles from Dana Point!!!! The weather is beautiful this week. There are several quilt shops. Material Possessions in Lake Forest is nice. A bit difficult to find but if you call them they can help you out. I also liked Leah's a lot, but they had 2 shops and they sold the one by me. It is now A Time to Sew. I personally find that the gals are not as friendly as the people who worked for Leah. It is on the corner of Margarite and Avery right next to the freeway. There is a Del Taco and a Robbins Brothers Jewelers in the same parking lot as identifying spots. Tall Mouse on Aliso Creek has a lot of very nice fabrics too along with every other crafty thing you can think of. Would love to arrange a get together!

Thanks Debbi. I would love to get together - probably my next trip though. Just in case, do you want to email me your phone number & I'll email you mine? My email address is not munged.

This move for my girlfriend has been really stressful on her & her DH will be flying out tomorrow afternoon & will be gone all week. I know she is in dire need of girlfriend time & crying time with her girlfriend. It's probably remote that I'll get to a quilt shop, but I thought I'd check with you guys anyway, just in case the opportunity presents itself.

Oh man! You live near the ocean! Waaa, waaa, I want to live near the water!!
