Hi Thanks to everyone for their input on this topic, it sure was helpful and at he same time reassuring to know I am on the right track! This is what we have decided to do.....I have already done a beginning applique so that is taught as a separate class(it took a number of experimenting with class projects to gauge how long it takes to complete or semi complete a project)...anyway I am going to teach three blocks a variation of drunkard's path called "Around the world", Lemoyne Star, and a String Star. A person could take one or all three classes. The following month I will offer three classes, One-setting with sashing and cornerstones, setting on point, and borders(with mitering thanks to those who suggested that here!) Second class- exploring machine quilting, meandering, SID, and echo quilting, and third -binding, sleeve, and labeling....So theoretically one could take all three piecing classes and come away with blocks to make a table runner, then come back and learn how to set it on point, and machine quilt it and finish it up either as a table runner (no sleeve) or a wallhanging(with sleeve). and label.....Of course color is always part of the discussion.....ALWAYS ....every time I teach any class, color selection is always the first consideration and biggest fear to overcome. I know I have done my job when students come in with their own fabrics already chosen! I feel my job is to empower people to choose for themselves, have fun , and leave the class loving quilting as much as I do! Oh and BTW when their fabric stashes start to take over their houses, too!
