novel idea for current quilt

Having attended a mini workshop for applying foil to fabric while I was in Chicago for the Quilt Festival, I am now ready to try it on the current quilted project - a bed quilt graduation gift of aqua and blue batiks that is hand quilted with pearl cotton and embroidery floss from the center to the almost outside edge where the continuous line machine quilting takes over in a royal purple hand dyed rayon produced by Frieda Anderson and Laura Wasilowski. I have a gorgeous scrollworked butterfly stencil and some shiny beautiful foil (purchased with my last cash on the last day of the festival!) - ooh la la! I'll post pictures on my blog AFTER May 17th, when it will be gifted to a dear young graduate.

I've done some foiling, but not on anything that would be washed. Did they say it could be laundered? I'd want to make sure a bed quilt for college could be washed without ruining the foiling.

I thought foil couldn't be washed. Have they changed it? Gen

According to the lady teaching the workshop, and the instructions in BOTH the above links, foil is washable. Using a washing machine, but not a drying machine. Air dry, no drycleaning, no ironing.
