Any purse that has vinyl, pvc, or synthetic materials have lead in them goes for wallets, belts and shoes. The woman put a lead detection meter on a brand new purse and it was I believe 100% higher than what was allowed for childeren. Thought you might like to know.
Remember that lead is only a problem if it escapes into the people. lead that is totally encapsulated may still be detectable by metal detector but has no contact with the person wearing it. Be aware, but also be aware of scaremongering.
Usually, the lead in such products is only a possible danger to the people engaged in the manufacturing process, unlike the dangers of lead piping and lead paint.

I have always prefered leather. Of course that is none to wonderful, so far as freaky chemicals go, either.
