Old Sewing Machine

I told you ladies about my neighbor and her old New Home Sewing machine and thanks to you all I finally found a manual for it on the net.

Printed the manual and read it. what fun.

The thing that caught my eye was about skipped stitched. Dull needles.

Although the SM was purchased in 1911 it was manufactured in 1906. Can you beat that even our great grandmothers had problems with skipped stitches.

They really had a learning curve with their machines, no instructions on how to use the various attachments.

Her 1935 Singer is a Model 15 that was made on March 28, 1935. It has a round bobbin. My 1932 Singer has the shuttle.

We had a ball cleaning, oiling and just sewing on our old machines and trying out the various attachments.

Her husband grumbled a couple times about lunch not being ready (giggle). He got his lunch, got curious as to what we were doing and came to watch. We got him at the SM and had him doing a seam or two.

I have a feeling her old SMs are not going to the consignment shop but put back in use.

You probably just saved a couple old sewing machines. So many meet an early death, it is so sad when they have so many years left in them and they work so well. The attachments work so well, so precise and so quiet. The ruffling foot does the most beautiful job. Her Singer

15 is a prize, that is one of the best of the best. Love it.

Sounds like you had a great time and it is funny how curiosity will get the man every time!!

Peace,
