Wonder how many of us are in the moving process right now besides you and I? I know one gal just moved and another is planning on it---but I'm too tired to remember names and where they are heeded---another town, state, or just down that street and over a couple....
Um. I am in the oh-so-slow process of moving my sewing room upstairs. DH said he will move all the big stuff ('puter, bookcase, table). I did a to-scale diagram of the room, down to windows and plugs, and to-scale cutouts of the pieces that will be in there. This 104 yr old house has some under-sized joists that need to be sistered, so I am limited to where the heavy stuff can be placed. The high-fiber fabric diet will continue. Will be following the advice here previously to weed out magazines and articles to save. As soon as he gets the old bed-stead and Nordic-Trak out of that room, I'll start hauling up a bag of fabric or books each time I go upstairs.

We're "starting" to move.... that means unwinding the garage remodel into sewing room back into a useable garage, his den in the spare bedroom is now my temp quilting studio and bunches of stuff have gone into storage to make this little house look a bit "larger". So, I guess we're getting ready to get ready??? I have the new house plans about finalized (I draw my own blueprints) and we plan to break ground on the new house in the spring. My hunky hubby's knee surgery hasn't healed well (ACL repair plus some other repair work- a major infection and a scare that the spliced ligamant hadn't taken- but all is well after all) and with a bunch of other crap we just didn't feel we needed to start a house-building project right now.
So mark us down as "getting closer"!

Actually, I could make some terrible confessions. We moved to the Swamp 8 years ago and still haven't completely unpacked. And the thought that this place 'needed a little work'? Well, yes. That just never ends. Is there a Moving Police? How long do you have to keep a box that hasn't been opened before you can simply toss it? Polly
I dunno... I use all the words and phrases interchangeably- quilting- sewing- room- studio. But then I've been known to do all kinds of things in my "studio/room"... make curtains, clothing and dog beds; repair linens and clothing and fishing gear; silk ribbon embroidery; mani and pedi-cures; read; exercise; floral arrangements; dog training; fabric dying; my computer stuff; design houses; iron clothing; talk on the phone; eat; entertain friends; hide from my sometimes grumpy hubby; paint and/or stain furniture; listen to music; etc. Some times I even make a quilt in there! I guess I need to call it "My Do Everything Sometimes Room"???

My Christmas tree didn't see daylight for six years one time lol. This is "home" number 26 for me, and I will likely be in a box when I move next time!
If I had a box that hadn't been opened in four years (and I have had plenty of those!) I figured it probably contained something that I either didn't need or had already replaced!
I have one box that's been packed since 1992. Before that I had a box that was packed around 20 years. It was in the storage unit so it was out of sight, out of mind at least. Yeah, I knew what is/was in both of them.
All moved in, now trying to get settled. New house is 6 blocks from old house. New house is wonderful; old house is being rehabbed for (hopefully quick) sale.
At least for the next few months (probably forever), I'm setting up my quilting in the formal diningroom. It's a small room, so fabric and excess supplies will be on shelves in the unfinished basement. It still feels odd and I've not been struck by the muse as yet. I did start handquilting my greenwork quilt yesterday, so that's a start. Being on the main level for the first time, I'm having to consider the puppy before putting things on the shelves in the sewing room. Happy (that's the puppy) is more than happy to investigate and carry interesting things around the house in her mouth. Okay for socks and underwear, not okay for pin cushions. I've ordered several items at the store to help outfitting the new room--Daylight light, wooden ruler rack and pressing surface/cutting board to sit beside my sewing machine.
So between moving, working more than I want and Mom's death, it's been an exhausting (in every way) past month. After this week, things should settle down a bit. If anyone sees an unattached wandering quilting muse, please send him/her my way!
