OT: being inspected tomorrow

My nerves aren't quite getting the beter of me yet!

I teach English at the local French primary school, 3 classes ages 7 - 9 yrs. I've been teaching them for the last 18 months and this is my first inspection! Gulp! I am not a formally trained teacher, just an enthusiastic Mum. Apparently, I am having the Inspector and The Head of Languages for our region visiting me at school tomorrow, no idea which class or classes, what time or what they want to know.....

Wish me luck

Janner: Sending good wishes across the Atlantic! I can't believe you've been in France nearly two years already. I hope your family has adjusted and settled in well.

Wow! I didn't spot that. Good grief! It seems like yesterday; and, yes, I know what that means ... ... ... Sigh. . In message , Pat in Virginia writes

Two very positive thoughts.....

#1. They are most likely going to give you kudos for a job well done, I can't imagine you doing less. #2. They don't take women into the Foreign Legion, even if bound, gagged and dumped in the doorway of the Aubagne recruitment center even if tossed from a speeding official government vehicle.

I'm wishing you very good luck, Janner -- though I suspect you won't really need it, if they've kept you on for this long. :)

LOL at #2!!!

Thanks for all your support. It is nice to know that you are there wishing me luck.

As for being here almost 2 years (October 08) time has flown, it hasn't all been easy, but as they say "there's no going back!" Mum & Dad moved out not long after us, so are only 5 mins away instead of a 2 hour drive, so has been really great for my daughters to spend time with them. The lifestyle just suits us, although maybe not the weather at the moment - you wouldn't believe that it was June month in the South of France. We have had torrential rain on and off now for weeks and numerous places have been flooded out. We've a river and canal at the end of our road, so fingers crossed that our feet stay warm and dry!!! At least we're only renting otherwise I would be really worried. On Saturday we were driving on a nearby dual carriageway and we had to stop because we could not see more than a yard in front of the car because it was raining and hailing that hard. I've never seen rain like it.

All the rain seems to make the wildlife easier to see - this evening in a tree in the garden was a tawny owl. I know that we have peregrine falcons nesting at the bottom of the garden and the occasional barn owl, loads of rabbits (grrr, eating everything) and moles and hedgehogs. So there is plenty of wildlife to watch here!

Anyway, just going to check that I've packed all that I need to take with me tomorrow.

Thanks again, will let you know how I get on.

Janner, good luck wishes speeding your way. But I bet you don't need to rely on luck. In my opinion the "enthusiastic Mum" is nature's best prepared teacher. Teaching out of love and enthusiasm ..... that's pretty incredible preparation and qualification. Let us know how it goes. Try not to be too nervous. Just do what you do and be you and it can't help but go well.

Hugs and good wishes, Sunny

Janner,

Just go about your normal business - you are there for the kids!

For my certificate, I had an observation of one of my lab classes. Everything went wrong. Everything! When we did the debrief afterwards the guy apologised for being in the way, and I realised that apart from the first 2 minutes I had been too busy trying to sort out the mess (which was no fault of mine, as the written report also clearly said) to even notice him in the corner.

So, try not to worry about them. You'll be fine.
