OT: Boxtops again

We've slipped to 6th place and need to catch up.

For those who don't know the story. My school PTA collects Boxtops for Education (list of products:

) They sponsor a contest. The class that collects the most boxtops wins. The PTA gives a pizza party to the class that collects the most boxtops. Two things occurred last year which lead me to ask for help. We have in our building a self-contained special needs class with 10 students. In the past, they always got a "runner-up" party, but last year it was decided that was too costly. I also caught some students (many of them my own) making fun of the fact that on the graph in the display class this class was always in last place. I decided that I would do whatever I could to have them finish in 1st place this year. Boxtops are counted 1x per month, and I believe the contest ends some time in April.

Well Linda, I was about to hunt you down and see how we were coming along. If the contest doesn't end until April, maybe we need to figure out how to fight dirty (bound to be somebody in our group who knows how). Would we hit the others with so many that they could not possibly catch up ?. . . do we hold off, lull them into complacency and bombard them at the last minute? We need a plan. Anybody here know how to fight? Polly

I do ... but I don't see how kickin' the other class in the you-know-whats and runnin' off would help. ;)

Here's my suggestion. Those of us that want to help can collect the box tops and each month email Linda with how many we are sending her so that she can keep a tally and let us know where they are at in the tally. We'll still send them in to Linda but Linda, don't turn them in until the last minute so that you take a great leap into the lead. You'll need to keep us informed as to where we are at so we know if we're helping to catch up or need to dig in more.

I'll put the word out at my school that I'm collecting them. I know, that makes no sense, but our high school doesn't participate. I'll figure it out somehow to let all the staff know that I need them.

By the way, now many are you behind? Just curious.

I looked at the list and would you believe I don't use any of those things? Not one!

Is there any other way to help?

You can go to the boxtops website and sign up, choosing whichever school you wish to get your benefit.

I think you get points just for signing up. You can go shopping in their online store, or even a bookstore, where the items also give points. If there's nothing you need in the online store, at least you'll be able to check on progress and cheer her on! I only know this, because our school collects them, too. DD's class won this contest (I'd turned in nearly 200...it's a small school), and we're hoping to win again in the spring.
