OT Dogs and thunder/lightening

It's springtime in Missouri with our usual tornado warnings/watches and heavy rains. I have heard of golf ball sized hail but this is the first time I've seen it- and the weather man said it may increase to tennis ball sized hail! My truck probably doesn't have a straight piece of metal on it after this storm. But, back to scared dogs, I had the television on loud enough to hear over the rain and hail hitting the roof (I'm about 3/4 deaf with double ear infections, any way) and then turned on the radio as well to listen for any new warnings. It seems all the noise and several voices pretty much drowned out the thunder and Dottie calmed down some. Maybe that's the answer for our frightened dogs??? A bunch of conflicting, loud noises? It's worth a try! ;-)

Sounds awful, Leslie; our weather can be a bit scary at times, but nothing remotely like you describe. Cesar Millan put a dog terrified of thunder (like Dottie) through a series of exercises involving lots of noises all at once. So, looks like you hit on a brilliant strategy. .
