TSWLTH Update

For those of you who read my post last week, I have further news.....good news.

I had visited a Joanne's store for the second time to pick up an item that the staff assured me they always had on hand....but they didn't have it. I asked if I could place a special order, and after waiting almost an hour for them to look for the SKU #, and then having to call their Home Office for it, I paid for the order and headed out. When checking over the receipt, I realized that I'd been charged $7 shipping for this item to be delivered to the store! Now, if this were a bridal fabric, or a decorator fabric, something that they normally didn't stock, that would be one thing. But, why should I pay to have a "stock" item delivered to the store? Heck, I could've gone online and ordered it to be delivered to my home! (and saved three trips)

Anyway, I sent an email to Joanne's. I immediately received a confirmation that said I'd hear from them within 48 hours. Well, four days later, I called their customer service phone number. I talked to a nice young man who seemed very sympathetic, but I had my doubts. I told him that ideally, when I went to pick up the order, I'd like it re-rung, and it would include a 50% discount (coupon which I didn't have with me when I placed the order), a tax reimbursement (I had just gotten the paperwork from our church authorizing tax-exempt status), and a refund of the shipping charges! Just hours later, the manager from our closest store called!! She told me to come in and ask for her. I did that today, and she granted all my wishes, and couldn't have been nicer! So, I'm a happy shopper! And thanks to those of you who pushed me to do this!

Alice, so glad to hear all worked out as it should have. And getting

50% off to boot is great! I'm guessing lots of places are feeling the economic pinch (except gas stations) and are doing what they can to retain their customers. And glad you brought up the subject here and so many encouraged you to get the shipping refunded!

Good luck with your project.

I was buying cheap flannel for diaper/soaker pads and discovered TSWLTH has free shipping today (the 20th) only. maybe. Even found some flannel for $2 yard. Just thought you might be shopping for something heavy and would enjoy the free shipping deal. Polly
