Hi:

Are there any current 50% off coupons for Joann's out there? I didn't use any the last time around and now, all of a sudden, I find an urgent need for a few.

Also, I got an e-mail from Joann.com telling me I would get 50% off the list price of any one item in the on-line store (with the usual exclusions as to what it can't be used for). So, I found a fabric I think will make a fabulous stack'n whack (still addicted). I put 4 yards in as the quantity. The computer gave me 1 yard at 50% off ($3.50) and the remainder at the list price ($6.99). Since this fabric was already on sale for $4.99 a yard, their so-called discount was more than what the fabric cost at their sale price! And, their shipping is ridiculous. Anyone who buys fabric on the internet knows that 4 yards of fabric easily fits in a USPS priority envelope that ships for $3.85 anywhere in the US. So their $7.95 for shipping four yards of material would garner them another $4.00 profit! Sheesh....I wrote them and e-mail and told them what I think about their on-line store.

Also, my local Joann's was seemingly forever out of the Sulky spray adhesive that I use for basting, so one time when I ordered from joann.com with a free shipping offer, I added a couple of cans to my order so I could 'stock up'. Now, these are like 10 or 12 bucks a can! Anyway, BOTH of the cans I recieved in the mail were duds. No adhesive comes out whatsoever -- just air. (And, yes, I've tried unclogging) So, do be careful about the online store -- I'm not sure where they're pulling these products from.

And, the shipping IS pricey, and now they have the "Free Shipping Club" scam going on. If you place 3 orders of $25 or more (excluding tax, shipping, etc. of course) before September then you'll get into the "Free Shipping Club", which sounds like a good deal -- but the free shipping only lasts through December!

Before I read this, and was reminded that joann.com is no bargain, I was tempted to buy a machine quilting guide from them using their 50% off online coupon. Original price = $21.99, price with 50% coupon + shipping = $16.95. (I didn't include tax because it would be the same for both). The shipping takes a sizeable chunk out of that 50% savings!

PS: if you didn't get it, TOSWLTH = That ONLINE Store We Love to Hate

I've never ordered from joann.com and don't think I ever will, though I frequent their brick & mortar stores frequently with 40-50% off coupons.

Just another example of why I won't buy from the website: The other day I decided I could finally justify a 12.5 x 12.5" Omnigrid ruler. I wasn't sure how much it was, so I looked it up on the website - $22.49, on sale for $20.24. My husband had to run an errand at the same mall Joann is in, so I jokingly asked him to go get it, never thinking he would, and sure enough he braved the store and came home with the ruler. Cost, off the shelf: $14.99.

They also have hardly any fabric on the website and it's organized terribly, not even by color.

I've thought about emailing them and telling them they need to hire me to work from home for them - I did online marketing in my previous pre-little-kid life and damned if it doesn't look like they have a bunch of kindergarteners running their website.

Perfect, that's just what I was looking for. I don't know why I never get these e-mails. They e-mail me with everything else!
