OT Go Red Day

Today is the "Go Red for Women Day" for heart disease awareness. To support the cause, I'm going to stay in my red bathrobe all day.

I like your approach. I'm sipping out of my red cup today while I sew.

That reminds me! I got a new red coffee cup for Christmas. I'll use that today.

very timely for me, I had a visit with a cardiologist yesterday, simply because I'd had an EKG done that had shown some abnormalities and my primary care doc wanted it checked out, but had indicated it was probably nothing.

The repeat EKG was more abnormal and she picked up some things on listening to my heart. Things that I'd not realised were heart related symptoms turned out to be relevant.

Unfortunately she needs more tests to diagnose the problem, so I go back today to have a monitor fitted that I'll wear for 48 hours and in 4 weeks time for a stress echo.

This is not what you expect at 28 years old, a non smoker, normal weight, fairly health eater etc.

This is SO weird, because I put on a red sweater this morning, without even knowing about this (or maybe I did, on a purely subconscious level.). In any case, I'm wearing my red!! My dad had a heart attack in October, so I'm not just going Red for women today.

probably is genetic, though it's appears to be a new mutation in me, I was diagnosed a couple of years back with a genetic disorder which is dominant, but neither of my parents have it, but it's known to appear spontaneously, though until they track the gene down I guess they can't be sure if the variations in symptoms are the result of the same mutation, or just similar ones. Some heart problems are known to occur with it, so I suspect it's all related.

Cheers Anne
