OT Health Update

Hi everyone

First off I want to thank everyone for your prayers, good wishes and support! This is the best bunch of people ever to gather anywhere!

I've had my latest scan read to me yesterday, and the news is good! The doctor said the scan is almost NORMAL!! I have two more days of chemo to finish the round, and I'm done. I have to follow up next month to check labwork levels, and after that just scans every three months.

Now all I have to do is quit the cigarettes to make sure it doesn't come back! I'm not going through this again! I've already got a line of people more than willing to chop them up for me! It's hard, but I promised I'd stop, so I will keep my promise.

Judy, Make sure you follow through with all your scans. Also id you feel pain that doesn't seem normal please don't assume it's old age like I did. I thought my leg was Arthritis but it was cancer that had spread to the bone from my breast cancer. Chemo is rough and it will take some time to get your strength back but be kind to yourself...treat yourself to pedicures, nice coffee and dinners out. Pami

I second this! Trust yourself on pain that doesn't feel right. Back in 1997 I followed through on a "gut feeling" and am alive today because of it.

Just think of them as poison, Judy - even more toxic than the 'stuff' you have had pumped into you as a result of them. Should be fairly easy thinking that way! Best of luck with everything. . In message , judyanna writes

WOOHOO! Good for you- WONDERFUL news! Take good care of your self and best of luck with quitting smoking. I just quit Saturday and if you need a shoulder to cry on while the pangs for a smoke lessen- well, just give a holler!

Judy, Good luck on quitting smoking. it was 8 yrs for me on new years this yr. You too Leslie!! Yer right, a buddy is the best way to remind you not to light up. Drink plenty of water and get some chewing gum. get rid of all the ashtrays, lighters and matches in the house and car. keep handwork handy for the fidgits. excercise also helps, and walking outside or gardening. do something for you. Best of luck!

Happy for you Judy !!! I once quit smoking when I read a Reader's Digest article...the thrust of it was : Are you going to let those little white things ( cigs ) rule your life???? Good luck on quitting...it can be done !!! If you 've come thru chemo you can do that as well too. Be healthy...take care of yourself... you are worth it !! Mary

Glad to hear your good news, Judy. Several of us have quit smoking, with support from the RCTQ community. You can do it too! I suggest you wear your athletic shoes and comfortable clothes whenever possible. Whenever you feel anxious and want a cigarette, just head out the door and walk around the neighborhood for 15-20 minutes. You may need to do this several times a day, but it will distract you and keep you fit too. Good luck.

Well done, Pat! When I first joined RCTQ, you had just given up. So, I sort of keep track of your smoke-free years (as much as I can keep track of anything these days >gGlad to hear your good news, Judy. Several of us have quit smoking, with

At one time, before all this happened I did have the cost as a motivation to quit. I could have a vacation a year on what I spend! And they're going up again too. This, as well as my promise, is reason enough. As if not going through chemotherapy again wouldn't be enough of a reason!
