OT: inspection over!

OK, thanks for all your support.

Well, the children were little angels today, even those that sometimes play up, were well behaved! There was one inspector and the head of languages - both really friendly and nice. The lesson went well and in the debrief, they were both really pleased with me and said that they couldn't fault what I had done! Wow!! Also, had I worked as a teacher in the UK, which I haven't.

They are also going to forward a certificate to me, which means that I am able to assist/teach English in any primary school in France. I hadn't been told that part of this inspection was an official assessment otherwise I might have really panicked - I normally hate exams.

They commented that I was very Anglo-Saxon or Northern European in my attitude, because I was worried about how it was going to go. They are so laid back here....although, I'm sure that if they were the one being inspected it would be a different story.

As to whether I will be teaching in September, it depends on funding from the Government, so they'll let me know in September!

I'm off to do some well earned quilting now!!!

Thanks

Congratulations, Janner. Good for you. Hope they do get the funding and that you can continue next year. You enjoy it and the children are benefiting hugely. Who could ask for more (as an educational establishment I mean!) . In message , Janner writes

You passed an exam you didn't know you were taking? Wow! That's neat! :D Well done.

VERY UK... We panic like mad over OFSTED! Mind you, being OFSTEDed can be terrifying.

Fingersre crossed...

And a glass of local wine? ;)

Well done.

Oh no way as bad as OFSTED! I remember those days, when I used to volunteer at the local primary, stress was an understatement in the staff room when they were in.

As for the local wine, apparently it is the healthiest in the world, or should I say allegedly has the most health benefits! It is known as Madiran, very reasonable and very nice. I'm going to be so healthy....

A couple of questions...what is OFSTED??

And, since Madiran is from the southwest of France, are you near Beziers by any chance? DH and I visited that area a couple of years ago - it was so nice - I'd love to go back some day.

Congratulations, Janner! We were all sure you'd do just fine, and you obviously did much better than that. :)

OFSTED - the UK governmental department that sets the standards, I think!

We're about 3 hours from the Mediterranean and Beziers. We're SW of Toulouse, so between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea! We're closer to the Pyrenees mountains, about 1 1/2 hours away. Very rural, lots of farming, famous here for their geese and ducks.
