HELP! Looking for suggestions for my 'crafty' wife. ;)

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you can offer.

My wife is really into scrapbooking and rubber stamping. I'm hoping to get her a really nice gift, and hopefully very useful, but I know very little about the subjects. What items could I get her that you love and can't live without? Crafting tools or organizers would be great.

If you know off the top of your head where the items you suggest can be found, please include that info. Otherwise, I'll do an internet search and try to find them.

Thanks for any and all suggestions,

John

John If your wife is really into scrapbooking she will probably have allot of tools! Maybe ask her for a list! Do you have a scrapbook store near you? That would be a GREAT place to visit and you will be able to see lots of items! I can not help with any websites because I only know Canadian ones.

Hi John: You could also buy something small (like eyelets, or stickers) and attach a $$$ gift card from a local scrapbooking or craft store - somewhere she tends to shop. then take her shopping!!! If she goes to crops, you can check out Crop-in-Style; they have great totes to keep supplies in. Creative Memories also has alot of supplies that I like as well.

My husband installed shelving in my craft room for a few months ago - I love it!!!

Our new LSS has a registry for Christmas. You fill our a form with what you would like to have for Christmas and then anyone shopping for you can check the registry. Perhaps there are scrapbook stores in your area that do something similiar. Peggy

John,

If you will nose around a bit and find out what she has or what she might be liking, and then let us know, we will be glad to give you some advice about where to get the best deals on those items. I really like my QuicKutz die cut tool and I like

formatting link
for buying QK items. They always have a 25% off discount and they are having 30% off certain alphabets through the end of the year. Don't know how much you want to spend but come back and give us some more info and we'll be happy to help!

Thanks for the suggestion. I can't ask her for a list because I'm trying to do this secretly. Of course, that makes it just a tad more difficult since I don't know much about her supplies. Also, we live in a smaller town without a craft store (much to my wife's chagrin) and the nearest one is about an hour's drive away. It'll be tough to sneak away for that much time but I'll see what I can do.

Thanks again,

John

Well, her mom just gave her an early supply buying spree for Christmas. What I'm looking for is something that she wouldn't normally buy for herself since she tries to be a little more frugal in order to keep me from freaking out over the credit card bills. :-)

I was thinking of some kind of really good organizer or a fancy tool that she would drool over but not want to spend that much money on.

Thanks again,

John

John, does she have a Xyron machine? You could get one that makes stickers and laminates. The 500, 505 or 510 or something like that. Ladies, can you make a recommendation (since I don't have one of those models)? I have one of those on my wish list for DH or any friends or family members that are buying me something.

Ah, that's what I was hoping for. You jogged my memory. I remember her mentioning a Xyron. I'll have to look into that. If anyone can suggest certain models and why, that would be great.

Thanks Patty H,

John

I was just suggesting that... a quickutz is one of those things all scrappers dream of...I know she would probably squeal and act like a child if she got that!

look in her books and you will kinda be able to figure out what font is best... there are deals all over the net for "ultimate" sets... make sure if you get it, you get all the supplies she needs.. those sets usually have it all.....

Ok John The one thing I can not live without is my sizzex. And the great thing is....you can add diecuts, letters for birthdays, etc! The best place to buy this though is at Michaels with a 40% off coupon.

John, If you are talking about a big Christmas present, I think she would like a Sizzix or Quik Cuts die cutting machine. Some alphabet dies or a favorite symbol. If she dosen't have a good cutter,, Cutterpede makes one as do several others. Michaels or some other craft shop is the best buy for these large items. Scrapbook stores have wonderful paper and embellishments. Jolies embellishments are super and l like them more than stickers. If you really want to please her give her a big gift certificate o a srapbook store or Michaels.

The suggestions I've been getting here and elsewhere have led to me go in one of two directions:

1) Get her a Xyron 510, 250, and a 150. It seems like a lot of crafters prefer to have different machine for different size projects. *** If any of you think this is overkill, please let me know. I don't want to get her one of the smaller ones if she won't use it.

2) Get her either a QuicKutz or a Sizzix machine with a set of alphabet dies. (It seems like there are a lot of other items to consider with these machines, as well.)

*** I've seen a couple of threads debating which is better. QK seems to make sharper cuts; Sizzix is cheaper but still good. As I understand it, Sizzix can be modified to use QK's dies so that you have a wider variety of dies to choose from.

Any thoughts on which way to go?

Thanks again,

John

John I have never had a problem with my sizzex! Nice cuts and easy. And yes, you can use QK with it!

That seems like a bit of overkill. Is the 150 the x-box? I love that little thing. That would make a good stocking stuffer.

Huh. Never heard that one...

Sizzix is cheaper but still good. As I understand it,

I own a QK so I am partial to it. Does she go to crops? If so, you should get her the QK. It is very portable while the Sizzix isn't. It fits right in my Navigator bag.

has some *fantastic* deals on starter kits. Hand tool w/all accessories + an alphabet for a discounted price. All of their QK stuff is always 25% off. Just check for availability since somethings take a bit to come in stock. They will order, but it might take a while. If I were your wife, I'd want that! ;)

John,

I would suggest the 900 because it allows you to put a 9 inch wide sheet of paper or other item through it. It does everything, Laminate, Laminate/magnet, Adhesive (both permanent and prepositional, and Laminate/adhesive. I purchased mine through

formatting link
and they have the best price on the machine and the cartridges. This would also give you the chance to look at each machine on your own, before possibly going out to shop. Hope this helps.
