true that it does process stuff that large but unless you want to laminate an entire page, the 510 is the perfect size for a scrapper... the larges die cuts on the market are mostly sizzix and this is the size that accepts them... she will be more hesitant to use her machine if there is alot of waste (because she has a 4x5 piece she needs done and it will waste half the sheet) versus a 510... if you get her the machine (which by the way is on clearance at some joannes right now, dunno why when they are selling the 500 regular price, go figure) and get her like 4 of the adhesive (permenant) cartridges and one each of the others... she can see how much she is going to use it... I have a friend that sells xyrons online and she gets multiple returns on the 900's... because they are too big for scrappers... I'm just trying to help you get the perfect tools for your wife. As for the Quickutz... if you get an ultimate kit for your wife, email them and see if she can exchange fonts... marisa is the most popular font (so probably a good guess if you get it for her).. but she could exchange it for another font if she wants a different one... and still have a kick butt present under the tree!!!

Thank you very much for your input. That's the kind of advice I was looking for. I'll take your advice and just get her the 510 with a bunch of cartridges and a 150 since they're small and cheap.

I have an 850 (old model before the 900 came out), a 500 and an X-box. I use my 850 for many things, not just scrapbooks. It has all the different cartridges and will take a whole 8 1/2 x 11 page - great for putting a sheet of vellum over another paper. I use the 500 a lot for scrapbooks but it just does stickers. The 510 does more. The X-box is good for little things like letters. If I only had one I would want it to be the larger one because it would do everything the smaller ones do +. It just seems like you are wasting supplies when you only put a small thing through it though. Peggy
