Scrapbooking Resources in Libraries

Hello All, I am new to this group. I have been avidly scrapbooking for about two years. I wanted to ask for your opinions on a couple of things. I'm a librarian and writing an article for a library journal that many libraries receive.

I wanted to get your opinions on scrapbooking resources (books, magazines, etc.) that you have found helpful, ones that you would recommend for your local libraries. I was wondering about the selection of scrapbooking resources that you have found in your local libraries: Are you happy with their selection? Are their collections up-to-date in this area? Do they have a good selection? What would you like to see more of in their collection, in terms of scrapbooking resources (books on techniques, etc.)? Do any of your libraries offer scrapbooking classes (digital or otherwise)?

I would appreciate any feedback that you are willing to share. Please do not feel obligated to answer all of the questions I mentioned above... These are just some ideas. I am very interested in your feedback and would like to see libraries offer more resources and services to their scrapbooking communities.

Many thanks, Susanne snipped-for-privacy@gmail.com

We are a small community in rural Southern Indiana. Once every three months I do a workshop as part of the library community's program to meet the needs/interests of the patrons. Sometimes I have done scrapbook LO's and sometimes I have done cards. I use a lot of my scraps and get my crop group to donate from their stash. The library does not want it to be a free event so I charge $2.00 per person. That way they put forth some kind of commitment to show up to use the supplies I get ready for them. No refunds for a no-show. We always have several people there. They have a few books and have divided them up between the main branch and the three outreach libraries. One of the books that gets lots of use is a heritage one. They also have a couple of magazine subscriptions. They do plan to add some more the next time they are able to order. I know that one of the libraries in the next county over offers a die cut system with several alphabet dies along with some others. You do have to call ahead and reserve time on the system and bring your own paper. I am told by some people who use it that it is in use quite a bit of the time. Hope this helps. Sandy

My local library has Creative Keepsakes. I have been very pleased to find that most recent copy available. It is the only scrapbooking specific magazine but there are a variety of craft & home magazines. It's not a very large library so I was doing cartwheels when I found Creative Keepsakes.
