Thanks for the suggestion.
My question is whether that machine will be appropriate for smaller jobs. I've noticed other crafters indicating they have several models for various sizes.

'course, the 1250 will also handle 12x12 paper!

I love the 150...it's great for small jobs. I have a Brother Backster which is comprable to the 510 also.
I'd love to have a sizzix with a couple of options on alphabets but I just can't justify the money.
SSorry John,
John, one more thing. If you click on promotions at the top of the web page and then scroll down towards the bottom you can see the deals they have. The 900 w/cartridge $64 and the 510 which does the same thing as the 900 only in a smaller size for $49 w/for cartridges.
get her the "x" or 150 as its known (cheap stocking stuffer usually about 10 bux) and a refill for tiny stuff and a 510 for everything else... most people who buy the bigger ones end up not using them because they are too big and the refills are so expensive.... the 510 is the most versatile one you can get her...
Greetings John, Since I don't know where you are situated, it's hard to tell where to look. As for myself, if someone wanted to buy me things on scrapbooking, I would much prefer having a gift certificate. This way, I can choose what I want and no one is disappointed. Muriel

Well John, I have a Sizzix and recently bought the modifier to use the new Sizzlets which will allow me to use the QK as well,so it seems to me that the Sizzix would be the best in the long run? Do you think?
Sabrina :-)
i think he is just trying to be thoughtful and suprise the heck out of his wife that he went and reasearched this and will have actual presents under the tree.... John, she is lucky to have you!
I'd get her the 510 and the 150 only... the 250 are hard to find refills for and kinda overkill if she has the 510 (by the way, 505 refills fit too!!!)
I agree! I would be bummed if my Dh gave me a gift certificate for Christmas! Now... a real present under the tree tells me he really put some thought into this!
If you would like to get your wife an organizer, there is a new toy that my friend just got and we are all drooling over it. It is a Crop In Style P3 Tote. This is rolling tote, that holds paper. It has 9 trays and extends up when you open it, and closes back down when you are not using it. I believe it retails for $129.95.

I know I'd rather have a xyron and a QT before that.. I'll stack my paper if I gotta!!! LOLOL... just my personal opinion... yeah, its cool but well, I'd rather have more toys! LOL
You've hit the nail on the head. While I'm sure she would appreciate a gift certificate, I feel kind of like I'd be copping out. She shares her crafts with me and I want her to know that I actually pay attention and appreciate her skills. I know she tries to keep her spending somewhat in check and, as a consequence, tends spend mostly on supplies and not so much on fancy tools (although she has a few).
When somebody suggested the Xyron machines, I rememberd her mentioning that she wanted one. And I'm 98% sure she hasn't purchased one yet. While I haven't heard her mention Sizzix or QuicKutz, those machines sound right up her alley.
I thought about buying her one of the QuicKutz ultimate kits but the pressure of picking the right font has made me hesistate. So, now I'm leaning toward Xyron. From other posts, I've gathered that the 250 is not really necessary if I get her the 510. So, I'm leaning toward the 510, 150, and possibly a 900, along with a few cartridges for each. The 900 processes items almost twice the size of the 510 so I'm assuming they would complement each other fairly well. If anybody uses either or both of these machines, can you tell me if it's a good idea to have both or if you have the 900 is the 510 really unnecessary?
Thanks once again,
John
Thanks for the suggestion. I hadn't heard of that one and I'll check into it.

Gosh, I have a xyron sitting here in a drawer that I used once! and it will never see daylight again! Good luck on whatever you get for her. She is lucky that she has a dh that cares enough to research a hobby that she likes!
Hey, and I have a crop in style sitting in a cupboard that will never see daylight! LOL
