The floods on tv are frightening and expected to get so much worse. I confess I don't know if our Missouri quilters are in danger or 300 miles away from the rivers. Would you please let us know that you are okay? Polly
West Plains in south central MO. got over 10 inches of rain in 2 days and more is coming. We are okay here, but Poplar Bluff, about 90 miles from me, has has a lot of evacuations due to flooding. Birch Tree, about 30 miles away, had to sand bag and a few stores in the old section of town were flooded. Here the water was over the roads in many places (some roads were closed) and some homes in low laying areas had their yards looking like lakes. But so far so good for my area. Thanks for asking- how thoughtful of you.
I hadn't heard until Polly's message, Leslie. That's a LOT of rain. I'm so glad you are OK - hopefully for more than the moment. Take care if you have to drive anywhere.

Good thing you reported in, Leslie. I was alarmed when we hadn't heard from you. Was about to send out a gator search party (not always a good thing). They will 'search' but they're terribly unreliable about retrieving. It seems to me that we have at least one more quilter in the Missouri area, don't we? Polly

Yes, and there's Anastasia- she doesn't post too much with going to school and all. And Cindy/Teleflora is just across the southwestern MO. border, too, not all that far away.
Oh my. I had no idea Missouri was getting hit. Thanks Polly for being on top of things and making sure everyone is OK. Glad to hear you are safe for now Leslie. Stay high and dry and keep us posted. I hope the others are OK too.
I went to Joplin on Wednesday and I had to backtrack a couple times coming home. The water was over the road and I was too big of a chicken to drive through it even when it was flat fields for as far as the eye could see in each direction.
The danger is very real when there is a creek or god forbid a river nearby, but the worst that could happen is that I would have had to put it in 4WD to get out of the field.
Anyway, the two rivers I have to cross were scary. Spring river was out of it's banks, but not up to the bridge.
As soon as I crossed the MO/KS line, it was like someone turned off the tap.
Tornados are the big thing here. We're much too flat to flood.
Doing OK in St. Charles. Did have about 8 inches of rain but nowhere near the river. One of the main highways (44) is down to one lane as the water is creeping onto the highway. Not supposed to crest until sometime on Sunday. Sure is a mess but nothing compared to the flood of 93.
Thanks for your news, Anastasia. So very glad to hear that you have nearly finished your degree course. Congratulations. Let us know how you get on (I'm sure you'll be just fine). You've worked really hard. . In message , Anastasia Luettecke writes
