OT more clutter

The inspiration from the clutter consultant I heard speak has not worn off. Today I cleared out the "Sargasso Sea", a drawer where everything gets dumped that I need rather often (bicycle keys, lip balm, extra change purses, store vouchers, sunglasses...) but also stuff that comes out of my handbag and might be important. Now I know exactly what's in there, and there's a lot less of it! Then I cleared out a closet section full of mainly special occasion dresses that will definitely never be worn again. And took out all the big scarves, which were folded (and wrinkled) in a drawer, and hung them in the newly-available space so they can be worn without pressing first. Aah, that felt good! DDIL, mother of the bride, is on a search for tablecloths for the reception. ( You can rent tablecloths here for $18 each and that's not going to happen.) I tossed our linen closet for the few we own and came across lots of stuff that needs to be somewhere else. How many sets of 50 year-old sheets that don't fit any bed in the house do you think I'll need? The tablecloths were in the bottom drawer of the guest room dresser. I knew that. Polly

Howdy!

Kudos to you both, wast.. er... spending your time so industriously while I'm still wrasslin' tubs of Christmas decorations. Polly, strip those sheets into supplies for crocheted rugs, coil baskets, a patchwork tent, cannon wadding. Roberta, did you find anything you didn't recognize? I always end up w/ some "where did that come from?" when doing what Mrs.Pringle calls "bottoming out" in Miss Read's books.

If anyone is going to use fabric for making crochet anything, you can get an extremely long piece by cutting all the way around the outside, to whatever width you want, then continue cutting more or less in a spiral, so that you cut the whole sheet into one length!! You can knit them too (Jennie Rayment uses that technique in a few of her three-dimensional quilts).

LOL, Sandy. You're right. My cannon hasn't been wadded in a long time. You just can't get good help nowadays. Polly "Sandy E" Howdy!
