Hmmm......Then I will advise you never ever to buy an embroidery machine, the net is full of sites with the most beautifull designs only a creditcard and upload away........

I love making crazy quilts using the decorative stitches in my sewing machine. I've made quilts, jackets, pillows, vests and pocketbooks that way. It's a great way to get to know your machine and end up with something productive. There is a crazy quilt evening bag on my web site.

What a beautifull quilts, the one with the cat is my favorite........

Did you think a quilt was just an inanimate object that you could, with practice, keep under control? Some quilts just demand to be made whether you like them or not. Like aliens taking over your right brain. So just go ahead and get to work on that crazy, sooner you start, the sooner it's over with! Of course, I too have bought Ebay items of no practical value. Like a manual for a sewing machine I don't own but would like to, if it ever turns up at a price I can afford. Roberta in D

I bought a beautifull book about silkribbonembroidery, it wasn't for sale anymore in the sore overhere, I was verry glad and it was verry cheap even with P&P:)

I can commiserate. I saw a quilt top there the other day... and thought... hmmmmmmm looks pretty kewl. Maybe I should bid. I bid low (around the same thing you bid) and as there had already been like 8 bids... I assumed somebody would probably bid me up.

They didn't!!!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This lady needs help.... and quick? I thought I was bad at not throwing things away! My guess is the fire department would condemn this place! I hope she never falls ... because EMS couldn't get to her.

Can you imagine being her child... and dealing with all of this when the time comes????

I don't know about the eBay ones, but a local department store used to sell "handmade" quilts for $30. Naturally, I had to check them out.

First, the fabric was, well, awful. If you paid $1 a yard for it, you'd be over paying. Thin, flimsy -- I doubt it would hold up through a single wash. The batting was poly according to the tag, and very fluffy. More like a comforter than a quilt.

The piecing was well done, but the quilting was (generously) 2 stitches per inch, and quilted about 6" apart. The quilt itself was made in China, so the person who made it probably was paid less than a dollar to make the whole thing. I noticed the "hand made" quilts disappeared from the store after a local group got on them about sweat shop clothes -- I've always wondered if there was a connection.
