yeah - they have made some changes -- the changes WERE talked about for some time before they were initiated -- (for instance -for some time there was a tiny blurb on each ad that said something like "see this auction with the upcoming new format" -- or something along those lines. The thing I notice most is that I get a lot of page errors.... and it is even SLOWER loading ads now. I gave up ADVERTISING there because all the garbage you have to go through to just list a single item is ridiculously time consuming. Cheryl of DRAGON BEADS Flameworked beads and glass

LOL - yes, the auction and store pages look really different. So far, I don't like the layout, but I am hoping I can get used to it. :)

There are a few improvements, but otherwise it's pretty annoying.

ROFL - well, sweetie, you'll be even MORE mad later on tonight then! :) I am actually glad that from the buyer's perspective the changes aren't so bad. eBay definitely does not want to scare honest, decent buyers away.

They no longer let you link to your website anyway.>

yeah - though most people do it anyway... LOL

I believe you can mention it on your "about me page" - mine still resides on ebay from when I used to sell.... nowadays - I just spend money there that I shouldn't... ROTFL Cheryl of DRAGON BEADS Flameworked beads and glass

I think a lot of small businesses who would not otherwise have used eBay were listing there as a form of advertisement, and that eBay will lose money from the new policy. They're trying to "encourage" (read, coerce) people to sell from eBay stores intead of their own websites.

OTOH, you can have a link to a page about the product, and the page about the product can have a link to your homepage, so that works too, I guess. I'm not liking eBay very much right now, on account of some things that have been going on with other lampworkers getting screwed around with.

I've gotta say, in defense of Ebay Stores, that it's a very simple, economical way of selling multiple items. I've been averaging 10 sales a month from my Store, regardless of what I am doing (or not) on auctions, and the listing fees are much lower. I used to sell direct from my website and never did very well. And that was when linking from Ebay to your site was allowed. I'd probably run away screaming from Ebay if it weren't for my store.

I've also seen people's sites listed in favourite links, on their About Me page. Actually, I think seeing a websites on eBay reinforces that the seller is a professional.

I had never really looked into eBay Stores until last weekend. What I saw convinced me to at least give it a try. I love the lower listing fees, and I think it will be a great supplement to any auctions I care to put up. I love being able to categorize things, and I also feel it will be a great way to offer beads to folks who don't like auctions.

I'm doing the eBay store right now, instead of auctions. eBay auctions are slow right now, so the store option is a good alternative. Cheap listings and I set the price of my beads. I do put up an auction every now and then, to direct people to my store, and also to feel out the pace of auctions. eBay really needs to step up their advertising of the stores, but so far, so good in my case.

Yes. Catagories! I hate looking for lampwork by someone who shas 60 items for sale, but only 4 items of lampwork.

I'm finding eBay's new format not at all to my liking. As a buyer, I don't want to open an item and get all that stuff on what my bid is, then have to scroll down for a thumbnail and search for what the starting bid was.

I love the category option! I think it makes my stuff more searchable, and for those who aren't familiar with my designs, maybe they will spark a little interest. That "hmmm, what's over here" impulse. I keep enough stock on hand, too, so that I can just grab a bead from a tray, and that allows me to "play" more, especially with the boro.

I don't know if that is verboten, but I know you're no longer allowed to have a link to a sales page from your auction. People do it anyway, but the thing is that eBay only enforces violations that get reported. Apparently, they enforce them purely on hearsay... at least, that's what I've been hearing.

I've considered an eBay store, too... but I'm leery of them right now. I'll wait and see what the future brings.
