OT: My anniversary

Yesterday was my 22nd wedding anniversary. My husband, totally unprompted, began telling me to "save time" for him on our special day. Well, my darlin' man came home from working a long day and took me out to the new Thai restaurant here in town (not much in the way of exciting food in our little town) and gave me the prettiest, most romantic little bag with red paper peeking over the side. Inside was an IPod Nano in my favorite fun color in the world, shiney lime green. Then it was off to the local book/music store to buy a CD of my choice to begin putting music into my new toy. What a hoot.

I am officially the luckiest woman on earth. We are, respectively, 49 and 50. When I became ill several years ago, the strain was huge and I was scared it would end my marriage (as is often the case when one spouse develops a chronic disease). I lost my income, lost my career, ran up medical bills, became unable to do standard household "stuff", often need care. And my DH grew and grew and gave and gave. He has always been my partner and best friend and lover. In these few years we have grown closer and he has become even more of everything.

I am very blessed and very happy and I'm listening to the little device right now and it's pretty cool!

Hugs and happiness to all, Sunny

Sunny, here I am in frigid central NY - where it's almost -5 degrees....and your sweet note just warmed me right up!

Congratulations on your 22nd; you are both so lucky to have each other!

how wonderful (the anniversary as well as the long term success), I've often feared for my marriage after I had a severe injury 18mths ago and getting better has been a long slow process where the pressure has been on DH to do so much.

Sunny - how sweet of him to do that! Congratulations to you both.

You're right, chronic diseases usually either bring a couple together or drives them apart. What a gem you have in your DH.
