On June 22, 2006 (the day my brother died) my beloved Missy girl (13 y.o. Golden Retriever) had a vet appointment for a lump on her upper gum. He determined she had a cancer growing there and gave her a month or two to live. It's 15+ months later and the tumor is very large- involving her muzzle, nose and upper gums- it's even pushed a couple of teeth out of her gums. It's pressing on her nasal passages and she's having to pant most of the time rather than breathe thru her nose. Since Wednesday she seems to be having more difficulty breathing. I will take her back to the vet this afternoon to see if there is some medication that will help expand or open up her air passages. She's still full of life and her sweet mischiefs and eating well and demanding her lovies and keeping the other three dogs in line. I'm so afraid I'll come home with a collar and leash and no Missy. I know we've had a long, good life together and I've known the day was coming but, still, I am so worried and my heart is starting to break.....
