Good thoughts please

Good thoughts requested for my dh, who has to have a new pacemaker implanted tomorrow morning. His present one was implanted ten years ago, with a 7-year guarantee, so it is not a shock. However, he has been feeling under the weather, so went back to his cardio (who has been keeping a tight eye on it and just checked it again a couple of weeks ago) and he said "Uh, oh. It's time!" They couldn't do it right away as he needs to be off the blood thinners for three days first, so we go to hospital at 6 a.m. Friday and they tell me I will be bringing him home by noon. Normally, they might have kept him overnight for monitoring, but the hospital we use is the only major one left in the city since the storm, and they are horrendously overcrowded. Naturally, I have been watching him like a hawk since Monday.

Olwyn, I will be thinking of you, I am sure it will be a routing exchange and Your husband will be as good as new with his new pacemaker. Amazing when you come to think of it that it worked well for over 10 years.

Thank, everyone for the good thoughts, prayers, good vibes etc. They worked! I got him to the hospital by 6:00 a.m. as instructed, 15 mins later he was in a "one-day" room, with various nurses etc. popping in and out, and by 7:30 a.m. he was in the O.R. I went down to the cafeteria for coffee and a bite to eat, and by 9:00 a.m. he was back, and the doc told me it had been a "textbook operation". At 11:30 they brought him a lunch tray, and at 1:00 p.m. they told me I could take him home. He has to just sit in his recliner all weekend, no showers, just sponge baths, go back to the doc on Monday, and if all goes well, get the stitches out next Thursday. I, of course, am totally wiped, so I think it will be a very early night tonight, particularly as I have to wait on him hand and foot for a week. Ah well, it means I get to keep him around a while longer and he should very soon be back to normal.

Great news, now you go and sit in your recliner next to your husband and take a load of your feet. No woder you are wiped out, even though it all went well, it is an emotional road to walk... Read a good book and just take it easy both of you. I am happy for you that it is all behind you

I agree with Els.

After having heart surgery my self, it is very emotional going through the check up after surgery.

Glad all is well.

Yes, prayer does work.

Hi Olwyn Mary I didn't get the original message - sometimes I don't get them all for some reason - anyway I wanted you to know that my thoughts are with you both at this time and will continue to be through this recovery time

all the best

I guess that he has had the surgery by now, Olwyn Mary, so I will pray for his speedy recovery.

Wonderful to hear! No matter how "routine" an operation is, we always worry until it is over, don't we?

HI Olwyn Mary,

I've been out of town and didn't read this post until today (Saturday). I'm glad to hear your husband's surgery was successful, and I send my good thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. And, my best thoughts for you as you nurse him back to health.

Glad to hear that things went smoothly for you and your husband. Make sure you let yourself get enough rest as he recuperates!

So glad everything went so well Mary, now just you make sure that between chasing after him you get enough rest too, it's not that long ago that you were very poorly is it? So take of yourself so that you can both take care of each other!! Love & (healing) higs Christine
